I booked this Pension through Hotels.com without looking at the reviews on TripAdvisor which was a BIG mistake! We travelled with our 2 daughter's aged 8 and 5. When we arrived on the Thursday night we were given a large basic room with a balcony and en-suite, it also had a balcony overlooking the street below. To be fair this room was clean and exceeded what we had been expecting.
BUT......
We returned after a full day of sight-seeing on the friday, exhausted and just wanting a shower and bed......To find that we had been moved rooms. The nice man on reception kept telling us that it was nothing to do with him. All our stuff had been spread out in the original room as we believed that we were to be there for the 2 nights. This really upset the children, luckily we hadn't left any valuables in the room. We had been moved up a floor to a much smaller room, the ensuite shower was terrible with just a dribble of water, the whole toilet moved when you sat on it. There was no reason for the move given but we can guess that they could get more people into our original room.
All in all we wouldn't return. We gave it 2 stars due to the fact that it is in a very accessible part of this beautiful city, if you are looking for somewhere cheap this would do the job but plan on being out for the day and keep everything in your suitcase in case, like us, they decide to move your room. If you do book here ask for a room with a balcony which makes the room a little easier to bear!

There are a few things to consider
1. Price- you pay what you get for. It had a bed, sheets, a fan, towel and bathroom/shower. That's it, very basic. Pay the extra for your own bathroom & balcony. It will be worth it.
2. Location- The hotel was a good price and close to the beach and shopping.
3. Staff- No one speaks English. Which was okay because I know Spanish but I can see others having a hard time with communication with staff.
4. No safety box for important items
5. Must leave key at the front desk every time you leave.
6. No guest after 10pm due to robbers.
7. Hand held shower. No extra soap or thing. Bring your own.
Overall, the stay was okay. Basic nothing exciting but we had a room with a bed. Done

My girlfriend booked me a early birthday present to Barcelona catalunya for 2 nights at Pension. While I was so excited to be back in Barcelona we came across a few issues with our hotel that we wanted to stay at. The hotel was beautiful from outside but inside was horrible. As I am a wheelchair user having independent access is important to me. We found out that stated it was disabled friendly became a disabled nightmare entrance difficult to manage then the lift was too small for my chair. So my girlfriend had to walk upstairs to reception to request help. The receptionist came down and told us that he came with idea. Meaning a normal chair was being put in the lift to take me up to the reception. Once we got to the reception me and my girlfriend decided it be best that we find another hotel has told the receptionist that the building is fire and health has the building was infested with mold and wires hanginging out. This hotel is bad for anyone who is considering staying at pension currently or in the future. We managed to get our money back and found a far better hotel to stay at.
