Gran Hotel Benasque

An excellent hotel to spend a few days in Benasque. We stayed for a couple of nights during the month of August and the experience was very good, especially because of the attention received from the very first moment. We arrived at Sommos after having a problem with another accommodation that ultimately did not allow pets. I called the hotel explaining our situation and they moved heaven and earth to find us a room. Benasque and Cerler were practically full and, even so, they looked for every possible option until they found a solution. They worked magic! We are enormously grateful for the willingness and desire to help us. Upon arrival, the good impression continued. They welcomed us with a welcome pack for our little dog, such a nice touch, and at reception they explained how the hotel works with great kindness. Another very positive point is the indoor pool. In Benasque, during the summer months, it is quite common to have storms in the afternoon, so we took advantage of the mornings to go on excursions and, in the afternoon, the girls could continue enjoying themselves swimming in the pool. The bar is also very good for having a coffee in peace, with very pleasant staff, and the breakfast buffet seemed varied and decent to us. As for the rooms, a very good experience: comfortable beds, everything very clean and, in our case, we were lucky to have a room with a small terrace overlooking the pool. But, without a doubt, we were especially impressed by the human touch and the attention of the staff. When you arrive with a problem and find people willing to do everything possible to help you, it makes a difference. Thank you so much to the whole team for making room for us when it seemed impossible and for treating us so well during our stay. Without a doubt, a hotel to recommend and one we would return to.

The facilities are very good, but the treatment from the restaurant staff is unacceptable. We have received rude responses most of the times we went down to eat because we are a group of students. Moreover, the food was terrible; they did not allow us to make toast because supposedly we had our "made" toast, which were hard toast from the previous day. Additionally, there were only a few slices of cheese and ham, and no fruit or hardly any pastries, while the rest of the hotel could enjoy toasting fresh bread, making coffee, and getting hot chocolate from a bag because ours was in a bowl, and they had fruit and good food of the day, all for the same rate. I find it outrageous.

Perfect accommodation (room, cleaning, equipment...), however, the restaurant at breakfast time could be better served. Waitresses are not especially friendly or diligent. They make us sit in one wing of the restaurant and the dishes, which are scarce, are on the other side, which entails having to turn around the counter to get one. Glasses are scarce. There are no cutlery to pick up another if you want to change it.
