Playa de la Luz

We’ve just finished our week long stay in Hotel Playa de la Luz and we’re really sad to be leaving and would definitely look to return. Like the other reviews say, the hotel is very Spanish which is part of its charm. When we first arrived we were allocated a small room but on enquiry were given a bigger room on the ground floor by the very helpful reception staff. This was perfect for our family. We went with grandparents and a 5 year old and 7 year old. There was something for everyone. It was also the perfect size for us, not too big. The kids were in and out of the kids club most days, the water carpet was out multiple times a day which was great fun (special mention due here for the wonderful lady life guard keeping a real close eye on the safety of all the kids), they joined in with water aerobics, dancing and football. There is table tennis and a pool table. The beach is right outside the hotel and the sea was lovely and warm. We watched the sunset on the beach a couple of nights. We also walked to Rota along the beach a couple of times, they had really toilets, bars and drinks carts at multiple parts along the way. The food at the restaurant was lovely. There was so much variety for breakfast. The food in the other hotel restaurants was lovely and the prices for the food and drinks were very reasonable, with a large beer only costing €3.50 and a glass of wine €3.30. We went to a lovely local cafe/bar called Martinica’s for lunch a couple of times and it’s only a 5-10 min walk from the hotel, would definitely recommend if you’re staying.

Just returned from Playa del la luz. This is deffinatly not a 4 🌟hotel. We would say more on the 3🌟rating . If you are staying in the older part of the hotel, rooms are small a quiet cramped for a family. Fridge was put in the bathroom 🤢. Apparently some areas have had re furnished rooms which is where they may gain a 4🌟. Kids club is all in Spanish and English children found them selves to be isolated due to the language barrier. Life guards stopped all ball playing in the pool and removed any that were used for playing catch etc Food at the pool bar was okay. Food is the restaurant was also good but very repetitive. Staff were polite. Check what concerts are scheduled before you stay. There is a local football stadium which hosted 2 gigs whilst we were there. Started at 10pm and finished at 5/6 am. The volume is so loud it was impossible to sleep. We complained to the hotel but there was no where to move to which was quieter due to the volume. It literally feels like it is outside your room. It's so loud. We had no sleep at all for 2 consecutive nights . It was awful. Rota is a short taxi ride away. Has a lovely beach and ice cream parlours but not much to do for children. A few gift shops .We managed to walk around in about an hour shopping as so small. This hotel and the area is more of a couples holiday and if you want relaxing its perfect. For all families with children I would avoid . Its limited it what the area and hotel can offer for families. It is very Spanish and I feel they need to decide whether they prefer it that way or they expand and relax on what is acceptable and enjoyable for families with children . Will not be returning.

Well where do I start ,Good points staff friendly and helpful, food was excellent 👌. Bad points our room was small and couldn't use the fridge as it was in the toilet 🤔 .The room needs updating as well ,pool area the sunbeds were something from the 80s so uncomfortable 😫, kids wanting to play in the pool was a no no .No balls allowed no entertainment around the pool.This hotel is not suitable for English families 😑, Every thing is in Spanish and kids clubs are Spanish too.Was glad to get home.
