Pension Correo

I must admit that booking a room in the old city centre I couldn't go wrong with the location, it's perfect, near the buzz of the city but still quiet and peaceful. The hotel is charming and clean. The receptionist, Carlos, is fantastic, really helpful and friendly. He had great tips and had saved me precious time thanks to his assistance! Thanks! :)

I really enjoyed staying at this charming Family-run lodging in the historical centre of Tarifa. We got there in December and booked the apartment Atico on the top Floor which cost around € 110.00 for two nights. The steep stairs are quite narrow and steep and the apartment is located on the 3rd Floor, it's got Windows to two sides and a view over the Roofs of the historical centre of Tarifa. On one side you'll have a view into the Cathedral where the pigeons gather in the morning to watch the sun rise over the Atlantic Ocean. On the other side there is a small private rooftop terrace - probably a great place during warmer times of the year. The bathroom is quite small but otherwise the lodging comes with everything you Need for a comfy stay - a fridge, tea- and coffee facilities and a large, comfortable bed. You can get your breakfast in one of the many cafés around, or you buy some jamon, olives, bread, cheese and wine in one of the stores that always makes for a great dinner in Spain. There is a public and free parking site around 3 minutes walk from Pension Correo. It's a 5 minutes walk to the Harbour from which the ferry leaves to Morocco, it's also just a 10 minutes walk to the immense beaches on the atlantic side of the town. Tarifa is a great place to relax under endless skies where you can relax watching the horizon or learn to do kite-surfing. I also liked the service at Pension Correo because the owner really took her time for us which I appreciate especially as my Spanish needs practise with patient natives:) I'll probably come back here.

We stayed at Pension Correo the 1st week of July, it's really central which we loved if you are driving there is a car park around the corner which we payed €12 for 24hr. I had sent a message a week or so ahead of our arrival requesting rooms on the upper floors as had read here the two rooms on the lower floors were noisy, unfortunately they were booked and we had been given the rooms on the ground floor, I was told that if I'm looking for a quiet place pension Correo was not the right place and how right they were!! We just wanted somewhere to sleep after a long day at the beach and dinner and drinks out. The rooms on the ground floor were both clean and roomy enough, basic but fine, we were given a cot for our toddler which was great. My parents room looked out onto the street ours towards the back. We got back to the rooms at about 130am, at about 3am there was a fight in the reception lots of shouting not great, but our rooms being right there we heard everything. In the morning my mum and dad woke to tell me that the noise from The street was horrendous and they had been inundated with cockroaches, there is no way you could have closed the tiny window in the room way too hot and no fan so leaving the window open to the street was a must not a great new night for them!! To cut a long story short I would stay there again just not on the ground floor next to reception, it's VERY NOISEY request rooms upstairs, it's clean and cheap and central.
