Parador de Santillana del Mar

It has been closed for many years and has just reopened. Everything is new and shiny. Modern and minimalist interior. Spacious rooms, very comfortable beds, the bathroom is impressive. Being a bit away, you do not notice the tourist hustle of Santillana del Mar. Silence and tranquility. For breakfast and lunch, you have to go to the other parador that is very close. I have been told that soon you will also be able to have breakfast here. There are some minor issues since it is newly opened and some things do not work as they should, but the staff is making an effort to solve everything. By the way, the breakfast at Gil Blas is very good. Highly recommended if you want to visit Santillana del Mar, and if you do, do not forget to go to Santa Justa beach.

Necessary addition: Those who cannot visit the Altamira caves on their first attempt will find beautiful consolation in Santillana. The town is an architectural treasure in its entirety, and the Claustro Románico de la Colegiata is a sight worth any detour.
