Nice structure from the outside but once inside you realize that everything has remained still in the 70s.
Spartan room without air conditioning.
Sufficient cleaning.
Disappointing breakfast both in quality and variety.
Recommended only for the central location, a short walk from the medieval village.

The hotel, and especially the rooms, really have many shortcomings and deficiencies. From the moment we entered the room, everything was nothing short of ridiculous. The room had furniture that looked like it was taken from another era (a chair and a round table with a transparent oilcloth from when pesetas still existed), although it is true that it can be understood if the hotel wants to maintain a certain old or classic air, but what cannot be understood is the amount of dirt that was there upon our arrival at the room. There were cobwebs (spiders included), more than evident dampness on the walls, drain flies that came out every day, the shower tray did not close well and water came out into the rest of the bathroom every time you showered, and the toilet seat (plastic) would fall backward every time you sat on it. As we were traveling as a couple, we pushed the two beds together and for that, we moved a small table that was between them, seeing to our surprise that underneath there was dirt and dead flies that looked like they had been there for more than a day. We thought it would be a one-time thing upon our arrival, but during the 3 nights we spent there, things did not improve. The flies we killed remained in the place where we had left them, including those on the floor, which says a lot about the hygiene of the housekeeping service. The first morning, we killed a fly that landed on the pillow and to our surprise, upon arriving at night, we saw that the fly stain was still on the pillowcase, and they had only turned it over. We also had an issue with the TV, as it did not work (it did not receive any signal). We mentioned it to the owner after the first night, who said he would take care of looking at it himself, which we suspect he never did: upon our arrival at night, the TV was still not working, and the bottle and plastic container we left in front of the TV by mistake were still intact, which makes us believe he never actually looked at it. On the other hand, the website advertises it as having heating, but the only thing the room had was an electric radiator with more dust and dirt than a pilgrim's shoes. Furthermore, the hotel does not have A/C, which we already knew, but the room does not even have a fan. It is true that, during our stay, despite it being the end of July, thanks to the area's climate, it was comfortable, but I think that with the current situation, it would not hurt to offer a fan. Finally, the mattresses seemed quite old, they were spring-type, and were not very comfortable.
The only positive things to highlight are the price, the location (although it is true that in Santillana del Mar many hotels are on the same block, so it is not a differentiating factor, in addition to the small size of the town), the service from the breakfast staff, and the free parking.

We went on an end-of-course trip. The windows did not close, there were spiders in the corners, dirty socks, and the curtain broke due to poor quality. The food was disgusting; everything was fried, the ketchup was expired, etc. The best part was the staff (Don Paco, we love you).
