While walking the #caminodelnorte we took a night off albergues & booked this lovely place Very central Very clean Well presented room with bathroom ensuite - a small bath to soak my very wary feet from walking & sore shoulders from my rucksack Would recommend to anyone wanting an overnight in Santillana

This hotel was the only disappointing experience in two weeks travelling in the region. Location is good, charming old building and the manager is friendly. However, not all the staff is equally friendly and most important: the room is appropriate for a youth hostel, at most, while the bathroom, with its broken sink, rusty bin, tiny bathtub would not be appropriate anywhere. This would have been simply unconfortable if it weren't for an unacceptable price, the highest of the 8 hotels we visited in this trip and by far the worst room+bathroom. The owner explained that the price reflects the fact that in August all is full... Yet, I visited the whole region in August and this is the only place charging like a 3 stars hotel while offering rooms that are not adequate even as a 1 star place.

Stayed overnight on the way to the ferry. This was a rushed booking and, due to the holiday weekend "del dia de los trabajadores", nearly everywhere was full. I managed to get the last room, 3rd floor, no lift if you are infirm. Looked over beautiful views of the fields at the back. No evening meals were provided but up at the crossroads was a restaurant where menu del dia or a'la carte food was available. I made a silly mistake with my car which resulted in a flat battery. The hotel couldn't have been more helpful! The manager offered to help restart my car and brought his round to connect jump leads. Very cheap and friendly place, close to the busy tourist centre.
