Posada Rural Mar de Santillana

We really liked the inn and the stay there was very comfortable. The employees (Nadia and her daughter) are lovely and are always available for anything you need. Totally recommended

Receptionist friendly & helpful Upgraded room spacious & well appointed. The room we booked was small, stuffy and un-airconditioned. It would have been impossible to have the balcony door open and the curtains closed. So we requested an upgrade to a larger room. This unfortunately was at the front of the Posada and above the host residence. On the Friday evening the host entertained friends and the noise went on to 130 a.m. The bed had an queen size mattress on a king base and was fitted with king-size, poor quality linen. It was most uncomfortable. The room was not air-conditioned so we had to have the windows open (noise and mosquitoes). The floorboards were also noisy. The breakfast was atrocious with a very limited range. The bakery items were not fresh and breakfast was not available until after 9 a.m. There was nothing remarkable or even interesting about the location and a little bit too far from Santillana del Mar. This was not worth €140 per night and our stay at this establishment was the worst value for money on our trip. We don't know how this establishment has rated so highly with booking.com and Trip advisor as it certainly does not deserve such a rating and is best avoided

Besides the room and facilities are ok, the service and the atmosphere is not as warm and hospitable as you might expect in a "posada". It was clean and comfortable, although the beds were not appropiated to spend there more than 3 or 4 nights. The breakfast was also ok, but with nothing special, maybe some tipical food or handmade dish could turned it on a nice experience. Good location to visit the coast and the center of Cantabria, but without any service (bar, supermarket...) closer than 5-10 km. A good option for stay only few nights to visit the near places, and not to pay a lot :)
