After visiting for a few years now, we felt that some standards had slipped, maybe due to the closure in October for the refurb.
Some staff were quite rude and dismissive, while others very helpful.
Heard of some issues other guests had which weren't dealt with very well at all, like losing their passports when checking in, advise is do not leave your passports with the reception while you go to eat, as we got to the hotel at 9pm, so were told to eat then go back for room key etc, we didn't have an issue but others did and the hotel were very unhelpful.
Also rooms on the 1st level seemed to suffer from bugs, rooms had to be fumigated. We were on floor 5 so no issues.
One morning the whole hotel's water system failed, so no water at all for a few hours.
Food again was ok and lots of choice.
TUI rep not that interested unless you wanted to book a trip.
Would we go again, no, not before the refurb, as I can only think the issues will get worse, but once it's been done then yes if the cost doesn't rocket!

Our family vacation this year took us – for the third time already – to the beautiful island of Fuerteventura to the dreamy RIU Hotel Tres Islas. For us, it feels a little bit like coming home every time now. We experience a special warmth there and feel completely welcome. The Canary Islands inspire us again and again: the pleasantly warm temperatures, the constant wind, and the impressive waves make every stay something very special.
The hotel is located in the middle of a fascinating nature reserve, nestled between two magnificent beaches. Despite the often strong wind, both the hotel and the pool areas were pleasantly sheltered, so we were able to relax there wonderfully.
We were also well pampered in terms of cuisine. Above all, the fresh fish and the Canarian specialties were a real highlight for us and delighted us every day.
Sporting variety was also provided: We were able to use the four tennis courts free of charge, which we were very happy to take advantage of. In addition, the public viewing of the World Cup provided atmospheric evenings together. The offer was rounded off by varied live music, which ensured a pleasant atmosphere every day.
One very special ritual could, of course, not be missing: Every evening we played cards together – accompanied by our favorite drink, the non-alcoholic cocktail "San Francisco," which we have all grown very fond of.
Overall, it was once again a completely successful vacation that we enjoyed very much as a family and will look back on with joy for a long time to come.
However, one thing is especially close to our hearts: We very much hope that the hotel will remain open to families in the future. Our 12-year-old son felt just as comfortable there as we did. We would very much regret a possible change to an adults-only hotel, as in our opinion this special place should also be open to families. Perhaps there is a possibility to continue offering the hotel to families, at least during the summer months – in that case, we would certainly come back.

Having stayed at Tres Islas before, I knew what to expect. My trip gave me the chance to rest, unwind and relax in comfortable surroundings with sunshine, beach views, walks and swims when the red flags weren't flying, with a variety of good food and good service.
The only drawback was the number of towels on sunbeds that were never used during the day which meant some days I was unable to find a suitable sunbed i.e. with a shade to use during that day.
