Stayed as a family of 3 in August 2013. Great base for local beach and shops/restaurants. 30 minute walk into main Estartit harbour area with fantastic outside dining. Would recommend for budget holiday. Good weather and scenery. Stayed with family in 1973 and returned just to see again - changed a lot from what was a fishing village some 40 years ago! Now caters fully for holiday makers.

We are a family of 4, my wife , myself and our 2 kids aged 11 and 8. We use Trip Advisor so we kind of knew what we had booked and the standard of the accomodation. When we arrived the booking in process was simple and straight forward. Parking near can be quite difficult , we found a space virtually outside and were loathed to use our car for fear of losing the space. The accomodation was clean, tidy and basic which didn't disappoint us as we expected this and we knew we were not paying Hilton prices. Another reviewer said it was like "Ronseal " and I would agree, we spent all day out of the apartment and when we returned from the beach the apartment was cool and easy to cook a meal for 4. The apartment was stocked with sufficient pots , pans , bedding etc to make our stay comfortable. Everything worked TV etc and as I mentioned the air conditioning was very good which makes a difference at night. The complex could do with a refresh but that's not a criticism just an observation. All in all a good 4 night stay in a beautiful resort.

We stayed at the festaSol as a family of four with two teenagers (13 and 17). We had a one bedroom apartment which meant we had the double sofa bed and the kids had the twin room. Whilst not as convenient as having two bedrooms, for the price it was fine. The apartment was not too small and the kitchen well equipped. We made meals in there for about 5 of our 7 nights. The complex is clean and the staff seem very pleasant and accommodating. They booked our taxi to our next destination for us. Whilst it is true that they do not come in to change sheets etc. daily, this was fine for us and they will change things on request. The €24 euros for the safety deposit box was a little steep. There is free wifi (much to our teens delight) although it is not brilliant. Ok for email or FB but you are not going to stream Netflix on it! The pool is small but clean and not too crowded. There is one for each of the three blocks which makes it not too busy. The hotel is located towards the edge of L'Estartit, but given that the place is not that big it is an easy stroll in to town. From the apartments to the port is about 15-20 mins. There is a supermarket over the road for pretty much everything, including an excellent bakery. The beach is about 2 mins away. Overall, this suited us perfectly for a holiday that was not too wild for us oldies, but with enough to keep the teens happy and on a very limited budget. Worth noting that we caught the bus here from Barcelona. Cheap, air conditioned, and quick.
