Babalu

We are currently only half way through our holiday and we already know we will be visiting again. The babalu apartments are very basic but very clean rooms are cleaned every other day and fresh towels and bedding provided. All the staff here are very nice and helpful. The pool has a daily lifeguard and pool area is cleaned every morning for hours the men do a great job. Rooms have everything you need for self catering. Beds are comfortable too. Rooms do get warm so I would recommend renting a fan from reception or bringing a good small portable desk fan. This place is not noisy at all even in the daytime also at night it’s so peaceful sitting on the balcony, the balcony is huge with sun loungers and a table, parasol and chairs. the location is perfect literally across the road from the europa centre which has absolutely everything you need, supermarkets bars and restaurants as well as shops highly recommend the Jamaica inn Irish bar for food the do delicious cooked breakfast every morning and the daytime/evening menu is also very good especially if your a fussy eater. Last night we ate in the Toro Negro restaurant which serves Italian/mexican/spanish/greek food it was one of the best authentic meals I’ve ever had. There’s an open air sports bar that plays premier league football matches and also has a free entertainment show every night (barbacao bar) all of these places are within seconds of each other and literally a 5min walk from our apartment. Ideal for solo, family or couples so if your looking for a clean no frills place to stay this is it just for the location alone. The amadores beach is stunning but I’m my opinion not walkable as so hot but you can request a taxi at reception to the beach which is inexpensive

No poolside bar, or shop onsite, shops etc very close but need to leave the pool and apartments to get anything. No inflatables at all allowed in pool☹️

Where can I start, absolutely fantastic holiday, we loved Babalu apartments it was our first time visiting. Family of 5 so had to have 2 apartments with children aged 11,13 and 16 rooms were basic but very very clean, bed and sofa bed very comfortable, small kitchen with a hob and a microwave but perfect for us as we ate out a lot or grabbed a takeaway of an evening to eat on the huge balcony, which had table and chairs and 2 sun loungers and a clothes airer which was handy. It was very hot in the rooms as no fan or air conditioning which we knew about but after a few nights you do get used to the heat so didn't bother us at all just opened window or patio door for a bit of air. We were on 3rd floor the views were amazing. The shower had really great pressure and enough hot water for 3 showers straight after each other, also had a powerful hairdryer in the bathroom too. The pool was absolutely beautiful and cleaned daily, it was never over crowded and we always got a sunbed. The kids would be in the pool from when it opened until closing time which was 10.30 - 19.30 they had so much fun. Yes the Pool bar was closed which was stated on our booking but you had everything across the road anyway or you could bring your own drinks and snacks down as long as there was no glass/bottles etc plenty of litter bins to tidy up after. Our apartments couldn't of been in a better location to the Europa centre, just across the road, everything you needed bars, restaurants, shops, takeaways, supermarkets and a pharmacy just up the road it was the perfect location. We did walk down to the beach one of the days which took about 25 mins and walked back, it is manageable but a bit of hard work walking back up the hill so maybe wouldn't recommend for a family with younger kids or the elderly. Amdores Beach was really nice and the sea was crystal clear and lovely and calm, plenty of shops and restaurants just off the beach too. Also note as I have read a few negative reviews the guy on reception was very warm and welcoming to us and very helpful. So if you want basic, clean, fantastic views, big pool and a great location I would highly recommend. Would we come back again, YES definitely!!!
