I chose this hotel specifically because it advertised air-conditioned rooms, but unfortunately this became the biggest issue during my stay. The room remained uncomfortably warm, particularly at night, and despite reporting the issue to reception on three separate occasions, I never felt that a satisfactory resolution was provided. The hotel maintained that the system was operating correctly, but from a guest’s perspective the room simply did not reach a comfortable temperature. The hotel itself is very tired and dated and would benefit from significant refurbishment. Whilst I can overlook older décor, the overall impression is that the property has seen better days. Customer service was also disappointing. Following my complaint about the air conditioning, I felt my concerns were dismissed rather than genuinely listened to. Although the hotel later apologised for the manner in which I was addressed, the handling of the complaint left a poor impression. Another major disappointment was the lack of facilities. After 7pm there was nowhere on site to buy food or even a drink. As I arrived after this time, I found the hotel effectively closed apart from reception. No information was provided about where food could be obtained, the hotel’s facilities, or even the check-out process. The atmosphere throughout the hotel felt rather flat and unwelcoming. Staff generally appeared disinterested and interactions often felt more like an inconvenience than hospitality. To be fair, the hotel did offer a room move. However, I was also informed that all rooms use the same air-conditioning system and cooling capacity, so I could not see how moving rooms would resolve the issue. Overall, this was a disappointing stay. If effective air conditioning, customer service and on-site facilities are important to you, particularly during the summer months, I would consider alternative accommodation.

I stayed at the Axel Beach for 10 night in July. It was brilliant! All the staff were really friendly and helpful. The apartment itself was spotless. Breakfast food was fine. Once i got over being self conscious and sat at the pool, it was a very relaxed atmosphere. However, I did loose my wedding ring in the pool and couldn't reach it - not a complaint, just stating my own stupidity. Location very handy for getting to the Yumbo every night. Thank you for a great stay!

Regret booking this hotel. They are no longer a gay hotel. So many women feels unfriendly and I felt really uncomfortable.very exploitative of gay men. The hotel is very dated and is a bad deal compared to other adult only hotels. As a solo gay traveller the hotel has been very disappointing. Everything is broken nothing works and the staff are useless and rude. Staying here ruined the trip. Never Aaain.
