Marina Suites Puerto Rico

Very good location. Quiet at night. Well equipped apartment with nice patios. Very friendly and helpful staff. We have stayed in different apartments of these five that exist. All great. However, the apartments are getting worn out a bit everywhere. Loose tiles at the entrance, loose door handles, loose towel hangers, kitchen and cabinet doors that have come off their brackets, slightly dirty floors in some places. A service and refreshment is in order before it goes too far with no maintenance and quality!

This is a review for Apartment 5 - the "deluxe apartment" in the Morea complex in Puerto Rico. Its odd that the photo here is of Playa Mogan, a different resort and absolutely nothing to do with this apartment at all? Anyway, there's a lot wrong with this property. The subjective one is the comfort of the beds. Unless you are a Tibetan Monk or just out of prison, they are going to be ridiculously uncomfortable, akin to sleeping on the floor. Cheap mattresses tend to be rock hard, you see? Some people may like them, but we didn't. There are no mattress toppers available. The apartment is between two major roads, one above the property, the other literally at the end of the patio. They are both heavily used by tour and transfer buses and get a street sweeper noisily along them early every morning. The ground floor is single-glazed. It didn't bother me that much, but if you're a light sleeper, and on these beds, who isn't, you're going to be woken up. The sun terrace on the roof is about 20 feet from the high road. It's noisy. Most importantly, this is not a "deluxe apartment". The photos on this site are old and out of date and most are not of apartment 5 anyway. The paint is peeling off the window frames, the front door has been kicked in at some point and the wallpaper in the living room is peeling off the walls. The flooring has been replaced since the site photo was taken and runs in a different direction and the whole place has been redecorated badly. There are paint splatters on outside walls, door frames, stairs etc and some of the paint is bubbling off in places. We had a power failure on the second night we were there (foolish me, turning a light on!) and the door to a housing protecting a section of electrical wiring fell off when we opened it. On top of that, the place is subject to poor-quality cleaning. The skirting boards are grubby and there are little piles of the last occupants in some of the corners. The sofa has been recovered because its old. Its all just a bit grim. In summary, its not worth the money and there are cheaper and/or better places in resort. Rent one of them. The owners basically told us to get stuffed when we raised the issues. AVOID.

We have stayed at Morea suites for a number of years and keep returning as we find the location is perfect for our needs. We are a mixed group of family and friends. We enjoy the views, the sea, the vicinity of many great restaurants and bars. And local supermarkets. It is a short walk into the centre for clothes shops. This year we got buses to a number of areas out of Puerto Rico which was fun and easy to do. Otherwise we use taxis as they are cheap and drivers have generally been really helpful. The apartment is great for our needs with good facilities in bedrooms, bath/shower rooms and kitchen. We have especially found the company extremely quick to react to any deficiencies- the hairdryer was sub optimal and one of the lights wasn’t working. I got in touch one morning and there was a new hairdryer and the light was working by the same afternoon with no questions- it was just done.
