Montebello

What a stunning find!! Lovely helpful friendly staff, very clean, great location, comfy beds and an all round superb holiday. The views from our balcony were perfect, sea view and the town of an evening, lots of space to sunbathe and even a sun lounger. We had a studio do only 1 lounger, shame there were not 2 loungers but it looked like the larger 1 bed apartments had 2. We hired a car and always found a space in the car park but it is quite small and tight, thankfully my friend did the driving 😀. The pool was lovely, we managed to find sun beds every day but didn't go to the pool area till the afternoon. Nice pool bar and cafe, reasonably priced and lots of choice. The main shopping area is close by car and a steady climb on foot, plenty of choice of bars and restaurants, our favourite was Mau Mau, cheap for cocktails and great service. Special note to Happy Valley restaurant, the salmon salad was incredible and the river were divine. We did travel around the island and saw a few resorts but I literally never want to go anywhere else but Puerto Rico now and will be returning to servatur montebello.

Our 7 night stay at the Montebello was as smooth as could be. On arrival, we were greeted by Javier who was an exceptional member of staff throughout our stay. He was so welcoming and kind to us. The same goes for all of the reception, bar and supermarket staff. Everyone is friendly and willing to help. The food at the hotel bar is also affordable and lovely. The room was clean and suited to our needs. As for other reviews being upset about the hotel being on the hill, there is an easy to use taxi service which takes you straight from the hotel to the main shopping centre for less than €5. The walk is also less than 15 minutes and there is a set of stairs. The staff are more than happy to order taxi’s for guests. If you have not been to Puerto rico before, it is generally a very hilly area, however the taxis are very easy to use and very quick. It is true the room does not include aircon, however you can purchase portable aircon from the reception for €7 per day. We weren’t upset about this as we had a lovely room for a good price anyways, so buying the aircon wasn’t a hassle for us. Javier also delivered it directly to our room quickly and showed us how to use it. Overall, our stay was smooth sailing and we are very pleased with the quality of the staff at the hotel. If you are looking for a relaxing hotel with friendly staff in gran canaria i would recommend montebello. Having helpful and friendly staff members makes the stay so easy and stress free for guests. I would highly praise Javier for making our stay as easy as possible!

We are currently staying at the Montebello and are having a wonderful relaxing 9 days. The position of the apartments is quite high up but there are routes down to the main centre and the beach, jusy be prepared for steps. But get a taxi back up for just 3.85euros. Our room is cleaned everyday apart from Sundays and the housekeepers give fresh towels everyday and are so lovely and kind. Reception staff are lovely too as are all the staff around the pool bar too. You must try the tropical colada smoothie 😋 views are spectacular, we are booking for October and cannot wait.
