Veril Playa

We ordered a room with sea view but got a room towards a road. It was actually possible to see a little bit of the ocean from the balcony (that had sun for about 2 hours each day). We where told that the room was just refurbished, and that was probably true a few years back 😏 It's about 20 minutes walk to the centre of Playa Del Inglés. The staff was friendly and the food was ok.

My girlfriend and I have just returned home from a week's vacation where we stayed at Hotel Veril Playa. An old hotel located near the water. We definitely made the fatal mistake not to read the reviews before we booked the hotel. We arrived 2 hours before that we could be allowed to check in, which is very normal that one has to wait until the staff has cleaned the apartment from previous guests. We looked around and could quickly see that the walls were shelled and generally the whole place needed a loving hand or 20. What we expected of cleanliness after several hours of waiting was not close to what we encountered. We entered the apartment, number 208, and could already feel as we took off our shoes that the floor had not seen the shadow of a vacuum cleaner or diet. There was sand and hair all over, and it was visibly dirty everywhere. Then we moved out to the bathroom, where we find a toilet that is nasty dirty both in the tub and around it. That was really not satisfactory. ' In the living room the tables were filled with crumbs and fat spots. The lamp on one of the small tables had probably not been dried off for a long time, because there was a dust layer so thick on it that one could draw a visible smiley with one’s finger. However, I did not, for example, but then you know that it is bad. Outside the terrace there was still hair everywhere, and there were food remains on the table as if someone had just eaten lunch. Last we checked the bedroom. The beds were okay in themselves, but the sheets looked like someone who had not been changed from previous guests. They were filled with yellow lines and stains, and there was sand/shit on the bed in several places... We complained of course about the condition of the apartment, but in a proper way, because we naively believed that this was a single case and we may have been unlucky. We can see now that it was not, as others have had similar experiences. They sent an sour cleaning lady up to us, who knocked in to us. We showed her the places in the apartment while she walked us shaken surely on the head of us, as if it was OS that was wrong on it.. While my boyfriend shows her the places that are not cleaned, he points to the toilet. He explains that it has not been cleaned from before and there are "rests" in the stove. She sees it, takes her cloth and dries the toilet over. Now with the same cloth she goes into the living room area, where she begins to dry off the tables on which we show that there are remains of food. So she uses the same cloth for the toilet that she uses around the rest of the apartment. Here we are goalless. Besides that she already has a bad attitude toward us, she now cleans our dining area with a cloth with lorter remains on. Add to hell... to put it mildly. We leave the room and let her "clean" it again, but are well aware that it won't be a bit better than the first time. My girlfriend and I therefore go down to the supermarket below, buy cleaning agent with 99.9% disinfection ability, go up the apartment again after she's smuggled, and start cleaning everything from end to second. In total, we spend about 1.5 hours washing and drying everything. We discover many more things along the way, which are simply not satisfying or even habitable for guests who pay money to stay. The mirror is filled with sunscreen spots, the sofa and the two lounge chairs are filled with dark spots and smell moist, and the pillows are oily and nasty as well. We don't burgeon anything from the kitchen all week, we're there because we realize that the hygiene is the lowest ever, and we don't want to use used glasses and plates for our food and drink. We may be delicate here, but our first-hand impressions are ruining everything for us. We get done the whole apartment clean, and use the hotel towels for this as we have nothing else to wipe off with. They were white when we started washing the floor, and when we were done, you could never see that it was normally their original color. They were completely black/brown of dirt, dust and dirt. It was so bad and so unpleasant - but we were just confirmed that it was right for us to clean it ourselves, because their staff would never have managed to get along with it - if they ever even did such a thorough cleaning... You probably wonder why we didn't complain several times, but we really didn't want to spend time on sending up someone who obviously doesn't know about hygiene and cleaning, so we took the matter in our own hands, to avoid spending time and effort on it. We wanted to have a good holiday, and the idea that she had to get up with her bad attitude again and use her dirty cloth everywhere, we couldn’t overlook. However, we told the staff about it again after we had cleaned it up, but it didn't sound like they had much more to say than: Sorry and give a friendly smile. We are normally not sipped, but this experience with cleaning was all too much. Subsequently we started to notice the rest of the hotel, and saw how spiders sat in spider tissue around in the upstairs, there were cigarette cubes on the stairs and generally there was dirt and worn. We quickly concluded that we didn’t want to spend much time at the hotel, aside from getting our night sleep, so we used the city and the surrounding outdoor areas very much. It did not ruin the vacation at all for us, far from, but it does not change that we were strongly dissatisfied with it and do not want to recommend the place to anyone! There are so many nice hotels around, so it is not worth it to throw his money here - if you ask us. We'll never go back anyway. In order that everything should not be negative, we think that the breakfast buffet was quite good. It had a wide selection, where there was a little for everyone. The rest of the staff was nice, but we did not have the great contact with any of them. The towels were changed every day, and the bed clean - which is the absolute minimum one can expect. But again, we will not recommend anyone to stay here when there are so many good alternatives around where you get much more and better conditions for your money. This review is based on our sincere and honest experience. We have in no way exaggerated it, but simply written what we saw. It is not made to screw the hotel, but solely written in order that others should not experience the same as we did. I think that it is far from everyone who would be as overbearing as we were - and we were even very unhappy. So for your own sake, consider booking somewhere else if you like it purely for standard needs.

Budget hotel. Very good food both for breakfast and dinner, very friendly staff and generally quite clean hotel. To improve soundproofing of the rooms. In the room we had no air conditioner but only a fan. When we stayed we however had no problems because it was not excessively hot. Recommended hotel if you want to save money and do not expect luxury accommodation
