Albergue Inturjoven Sierra Nevada - Hostel

CAREFUL WITH THIS HOSTEL!!!!! We were a group of 13 people and hired with them the ski lessons, ski passes and accommodation. Our experience has been, sincerely, frightening. During our stay, the weather was adverse, but the most serious was not the snow or the wind, but the lack of foresight and security. Access to the hostel is very dangerous when the conditions worsen: the bus could not get on, and we were forced to return on foot by the road, at night, with the skis in tow, under a severe blizzard, without visibility by the fog, and in an unbearable cold. It was a situation of real fear, we felt our life was in danger. We walked completely frozen, barely able to see or advance through the wind, without any support or clear notice from the accommodation. No one offered us a safe alternative or assistance. In addition, the following day, despite the opening of the tracks, it was not possible to leave the hostel for much of the stay, which made it impossible to enjoy the ski passes and contracted equipment. When we requested the refund of these amounts, the response was evasive: we were referred to the Junta de Andalucía, without assuming any responsibility. We understand that bad weather is not dependent on anyone, but the safety of guests and emergency management are. What we lived through was a situation that could have ended in tragedy. This kind of thing needs an urgent solution, because it gives the feeling that until something serious happens, no one will act. Hopefully, this review will help them realize the seriousness of what happened and take steps to prevent other guests from going through the same thing. We will not return, and I honestly would not recommend anyone to stay here until safe access and a responsible response to these situations are ensured.

Perfect lodging during the low season. I was here for two weeks during an instructors course. It's a do it yourself kind of establishment. The bathroom will get mopped everyday but no one will make your bed, no ski room, and the cafeteria is serve yourself and pick up after yourself as well. There are no towels so bring your own. All you can eat sty buffet, strong wifi, and nice,clean common areas. You can just about ski up to the albergue. The slope called La Directa will take you to the upper parking lot but you'll have to walk a few minutes to get down. IMPORTANT: Keep in mind that you'll be isolated up there. There are no restaurantes or cafes nearby so be prepared to walk or wait for the bus.

The place is great right on top of the mountains, rooms are comfortable and clean and has big space for luggage and ski equipment. Buffet food is good it has something for everyone and is a typical European food. It really is a nice place that needs small improvements to make it go from good to great (from an English speaking tourist perspective). None of the staff speak a work of English so finding out things is very very difficult. Especially we were on a package and we had no clue where to go for ski school. We eventually when direct to the ski school in town to ask what where we we need to meet or what to do. My suggestion is to write up a "welcome file" for English speaking tourists that explains all of this. For a first time skiers we knew knowing and even when given we had no clues Great place just needs more English to make you feel more at home and to just understand what's going on. Also on our last day, no one from hostel told us shuttle was not running we ended up having to walk in like -4 degrees
