Hotel Granada Palace

Large hotel that must have been beautiful originally but is now abandoned. Deserted in July, very few guests and very limited service. We had to wait 20 minutes at the front desk with no one there. One broken elevator. 140cm bed, uncomfortable. Freezing cold pool. Not welcoming, very cold, no bar, no restaurant. Breakfast: there was nothing left 30min before the end: no coffee, no more toast. Positive points but so insufficient for a 5*: large and air-conditioned rooms, beautiful rooftop but often closed, and very pretty building from the outside (see photo)

I had very high expectations since this is a 5-star hotel that, in my opinion, does not even reach 2 stars, especially knowing that it is affiliated with such an important chain as Meliá, of which I have tried many hotels across different categories. The disappointment could not have been greater; the hotel's exterior was very dirty and neglected, the pool showers did not work, the jets did not work either, the umbrella bases were rusty, and all the chairs and loungers were covered in pigeon droppings, with a rusty hose and cobwebs in the pool. The breakfast is beyond words, as an hour after opening, half of the buffet was still not set up, the fruit was all mixed with peels, spoiled, and looked very unappetizing, slices of ham were half a centimeter thick, and the bread was cold, almost as if it had just come out of the freezer. Regarding the room, the only good thing I can say is that it was spacious because entering the bathroom and showering was the closest thing to creating your own pool; there was not a single door, and as is normal, the water spills out and floods the entire floor. The terrace was very spacious, but the furniture was poorly maintained, of low quality, and there was no umbrella. The mini-fridge they had did not cool, and the salads I bought for dinner spoiled. However, without a doubt, the worst part was the terrible or even nonexistent attention from the receptionists; they showed no intention of caring for and properly attending to the guests. I even had to go down several times because they did not activate my room card correctly, and on another occasion, the door would not open, and their only response was to try again later. At no point did they apologize or make any effort to help you with anything; they do not explain anything, do not provide a paper with the schedules, do not tell you how to get to your room, and do not even indicate where the breakfast room is. You feel like you are bothering them, and they do not care at all about making you feel comfortable and enjoying your stay, wanting to return. We left a day earlier than planned due to the bad experience we were having, and they did not even bother to ask or show interest in how our stay had been. Without a doubt, this is a hotel I will never return to; it is very disappointing, with receptionists who lack motivation to work and very neglected facilities. It is a shame that such a good chain as Meliá has affiliated with such a bad hotel. I have undoubtedly tried most of their hotels across various categories, both 5-star and 3-star, and even the most modest hotel in this chain surpasses this hotel, which claims to be 5 stars, in attention and attention to detail, and I repeat that it would not even qualify for 2 stars.

Nice! But to be a 5 star hotel the lousy service. No one helped me put my bags up or down. They don't pick up the phone at certain times. No room service... Left much to be desired for me with respect to customer service
