Baños de la Encina is a very small town, but full of medieval charm. Staying at Hotel Rural Palacio Guzmanes feels less like checking into a hotel and more like stepping into a small medieval castle.
The building has extremely thick walls, uneven stone structures, and all the architectural imperfections you’d expect from something genuinely old. And that’s exactly the point. Despite this, it offers all the necessary 21st-century comforts to make the stay comfortable and easy.
This is not a luxury hotel, and it doesn’t try to be. Expectations need to be aligned. But for the location and the type of experience it offers, it works very well. The value is in the atmosphere, the authenticity, and the sense of place.
At times it honestly feels like walking into a Game of Thrones set. In the best possible way.
Highly recommended for travelers looking for character, history, and a memorable experience rather than polished luxury.
