Las Gaviotas Bungalows

Brilliant location, lovely apartment, comfy sofa and beds, air con in bedroom, large walk in shower, all brilliant. WiFi is a bit hit and miss, TV has British stations 1 to 4 Checked out today after a 10 night stay and had a lovely break, things that I would improve, parasols for every apartment, there are sun loungers but no shade and it was very hot and sunny, south facing looking over the pool, which was warm also. Was told at checkout that we could have hired a parasol if we had asked, so bear this in mind when you stay here! Other than that, no complaints, remember to bring pool towels as these are not supplied.

First of all, don't believe all the negatives. We were torn wether to book Livvo but single storey apartments swayed us. We stayed a week in complex 2. With my wife being disabled we requested a room close to the pool which was granted. No room is far away. Just to blow a few myths, the a/c is fine & yes you do have to restart it by a switch just outside the bedroom but it works well. The safe is €2.50 per day with €10 key deposit, not €50 like has been reported. We did take a secure box which was useful for mobiles & wallet on the beach. Room was spotless, cleaned & bins emptied 5 days, not Wednesday & Sunday. As for theft, I left €5 tip for the cleaner 1st day & it was untouched. Had to give her it in person as she was unsure if if was for her. Sunbeds ARE comfy, same as on the beach & are plentiful round the pool plus 2 on your balcony. Towels changed every 2 days. Bedding changed twice weekly. I'm sure if you wanted it changing more often they would oblige. Drying area for wet gear in the back in secure courtyard. We had little visitors all week but they just wandered in then out again. If you can't stand teeny ants then don't go abroad! Heated pool, misses a bar but shops & restaurants across the road & a fridge in your room! Car hire at the end of the road near the beach. €27 per day for Corsa sized car. Lanzarote roads are easy to negotiate & can drive round the whole island in a day. Puerto del Carmen is worth a visit. 40 minute walk or 10 min car/ bus ride. Teguise market on Sundays is huge. €20 each thru Jet 2 or € 5.90 on the bus. Bus stop near block 8. Get the 9am bus, it gets busy! They run every 30 mins. Recommend Aussie bar for food, especially breakfast. Turn right at the beach, 5 min walk towards Carmen. Most places do good food, el Molino was especially good. Timanfaya national park is well worth a visit. €60 entry for 2 includes a coach tour round the park. Meal at restraunt is tasty too. Can look up the menu before going if you wish. We drove there during the day as we missed out on the evening tour due to midweek flight days. Evening tour is €124 each only avaliable thru your rep but different companies go on particular days,(Jet 2 Tuesday, Tui Wedesday) that includes transport there & back. Playa Honda not worth going. An hour's walk & about 5 places open. Playa Blanca similar to Carmen. So to summarise, Matagorda is layed back, Carmen has a bit more nightlife but our clubbing days are over!

Just checked out from my stay at Las Gaviotas in Matagorda. I've had a fantastic stay and really enjoyed my experience. Everything from contacting the staff via email to booking direct with them was simple and easy. The apartments (Block 8) are lovely and spacious and have great access to the pool, with all the self catering facilities you need. I would like to say a big thank you to Natasha and the team here at Las Gaviotas.. I will definitely be returning, Gracias, hasta pronto.
