Rio Playa Blanca

We are about to depart after a 10 day stay. Having read some horrific reviews about this place we were anxious to say the least and had thought about changing hotel. We were surprised by that it was ok to be fair. Cleaners were diligent, food was more than edible and good most days if a bit repetitive. Nice choices every day and food available in snack bar most of the day. Bar - only one person on bar most of the time so long queues often. Drinks were ok. You have to pay a euro for plastic beakers and have to get a ticket for these in reception. Good for the environment plus paper straws. If you lost your cup it was tough, you had to go back to reception to buy another €1 token. This is also true for towels (€15 euro deposit each) and safe key (€10). Tip - pay this deposit by cash for these otherwise you have to wait 7-10 working days for it to go back on your card. Didn’t see much of the entertainment but what I did see wasn’t great. Plenty of sunbeds available. So all in all a typical AI. However, an incident happened last night which I was very concerned about. A child of 6 had been left/lost/abandoned and we found him at 10.30 at night. After 15 mins of ourselves and other guests trying to help the child to find his parents we took him to reception. The man on reception reluctantly rang this child’s father and asked him to come and pick his son up, but nobody turned up at reception to claim him for another 30 mins (11.15pm) by now. At this point I suggested calling the police, as it was clear that the parent was not coming to get the child. Again reluctantly the man at reception called security. The man on reception seemed to not care about what was going on - I’m sure he would have had mine and another family just dumped the child with him in reception instead of trying to reassure the frightened child. Very disappointed that the child’s safety was not taken seriously and I think this is an incident that needs addressing by management.

Today is our last day and we’ve had the best time. Rooms are lovely, Spacious and clean. The food is great, so much choice, hot, and the kids loved it. Drinks are great.

Currently here and wanted to advise anyone due to come here ignore any negative comments rooms are lovely and clean, staff are awesome and the entertainment team are fab. Food plenty to choose from fresh omelet In a morning made however u want them will miss these when I’m back home. Location is great next to the water park which is a great day out, beach 10 min walk.
