FERGUS Style Cala Blanca Suites

We booked this hotel with our 5 year old grandson . We stayed one night it was absolutely awful . We paid upgrade for a superior suite … disgusting . Ants covered the bath towels . Room was dirty . Pool and area unsafe . Sunbeds reserved 5am and hotel lets it happen .

The room was very nice and spacious, the food was amazing and the staff were so friendly and helpful. We loved the adult only roof terrace. Amazing views and comfy loungers. The location was perfect right on the beach where you can hire paddle boards at the hotel and paddleboard on the ocean. Very clean and great value for money.

We booked this hotel about 4 weeks before travel and stayed for 3 nights over the bank holiday. We booked without reading the reviews and once i read them i was dreading it! So i thought i would share my opinion. We had a really long delay so didn’t arrive until the early hours, check was quick and friendly we had two superior suites in the annex part of the hotel. Room was clean and spacious. Slight worn in parts but nothing particularly noticeable. 2nd bed was the sofa bed which my son said was comfortable and he slept well. Small balcony with lovely view which over looked the sea and pool. Didn’t get much sun though which wasn’t a problem for us. The sun bed situation!! On two occasions there were still beds available after 8am but this was the very end of the summer holidays so maybe it wasn’t as busy. We always managed to get our family beds, there was 5 of us, but these were in the shade side. We were quite near toilets and pool bar and we couldn’t smell any bad smells while relaxing, although i do agree the smell was pretty bad at the bar as the day went on and it got hotter. Queues can get quite long for the pool bar and there really isn’t any snack choice here compared to other AIs that i have been to. My kids really enjoyed the ice cream tubs though. If you just want soft drinks and water there was never a queue for these. Cups could definitely do with cleaning properly. You can see that these were only being rinsed and i used my own throughout the stay. The pool itself is small for the amount of guests, inflatables weren’t allowed in the main part of the pool but were ok in the shallow side. But overall my kids enjoyed and were happy to play in there all day. Meals in the restaurant were mainly good, i would say again that plates and cups looked like they were only being rinsed and quite often plates were still dripping wet when you picked them up to fill, which did put me off. Food was ok, i’m a vegetarian and did find it quite difficult some days. I would think after 3/4 days you’d be quite bored of the offerings. The pizza was very good, and there was always chips, burgers etc, but the meat wasn’t to my kids tastes so stuck with pizza. A very good salad bar area and the dinner was themed every night. The kids enjoyed the pick and mix bar on one of the nights. The dinning room really needs to be bigger, for the amount of guests, and could do with someone regularly cleaning the floors etc as it did get quite dirty at times. We didn’t wait very long to be seated even with the queues. Entertainment team were good,enough stuff going on for kids. Staff were excellent, very friendly just lovely people. Beach area was rocky but was nice to sit near and look over the sea. The square was literally a 2 minute walk with plenty of shops and bars, restaurants. Across the road was a play park and also what looked like a brand new park a few minutes up the road, which was all in the shade so definitely one to visit with the kids. Overall was a good break, i just think they need to address some cleaning issues in the public areas, and i probably wouldn’t visit at peak times, but would return. But definitely not as bad as i was expecting it to be!
