Maritim Hotel Galatzo

We indicated in the reservation that we wanted to celebrate our daughter's birthday, but instead of congratulations or a good day, we got the worst morning. When we arrived at the restaurant for breakfast, we asked if we could go to the table, to which the girl said yes and pointed the finger at the table as she entered. We went ourselves to the table, got water in the glasses and got fruit put on the table and went to watch the rest of the food. But when they came back, there was a man sitting at our table and the table was already clear. Nothing was explained to us, no table was held and all the food that we put in and other people put in was taken away. The mood was already sour. Before that we lived in Hotel 4* where the food choice was many times better and the quality higher and the staff worked perfectly than in 5* here!!!!! We were forgotten to take our luggage out of our room when we left, although we were already waiting for a taxi at the entrance to the hotel. We went three times to get them to arrange a taxi and get their luggage out on time, but they forgot to do it, and they delayed the taxi for over 10 minutes. It was a great pity for the man, because of the fault of the employees, he had to run, carrying all the heavy luggage on himself, in the heat, through 2 buildings up the steps without an elevator, because he was not informed in time. At check-out, even in 4* hotels give gifts to children on normal days, but here for the birthday neither gave a gift, not even verbal congratulations, we left the hotel in total disappointment with the service for which we paid a large amount. I don't recommend this hotel! It's a long way to 5*!

We stayed here for one week and have mixed feelings about our stay. The room was spotlessly clean and we had daily towel changes and beds made up each day. The air con in the master bedroom was ineffective but it was much better in the other bedroom and living room. Both bedrooms had an ensuite but the second bedroom was furnished with a double sofa bed, presumably as the room is too small to accommodate a proper bed. For a 5 star hotel, we found this inadequate and unacceptable. Our teenage daughter and son had to share a sofa bed for 7 nights. This was far from ideal and the quality of sleep was not good. I cannot imagine any other comparable hotels providing a sofa bed instead of a proper bed!! This alone would stop us from returning. After paying alot of money to stay here, the least we expected were proper beds for a good night's sleep! On a positive note, the staff are all very pleasant and helpful. The food at the restaurant was enjoyable and there was a good selection to choose from for both breakfast and evening meal. The hotel and the grounds are beautiful and the views are amazing. It is very remote and as such the things we usually enjoy on holiday, such as an after-dinner stroll, window shopping etc were not possible and we felt confined to the hotel grounds as there is literally nothing beyond the hotel boundary, unless you travel to Peguera. We had an enjoyable holiday but we would not return to this hotel mainly due to the lack of a proper bed in the second bedroom.

Our flight was delayed so we didn't actually check in till 1am, instead of 9pm. I contacted the hotel to let them know and they were very quick to respond. Upon check in we were explained nothing about the hotel, we were just given a map, and then the porter took our cases up to the room. We checked in on the Sunday, and on the Wednesday I had to ask reception to send the maid into our room as nobody had been in. The room itself was nice enough, although not very big for a 2 bedroom suite. The second bedroom had just a sofa bed, although it did have a bathroom, which I found quite odd. Why not have a proper bed? The hotel is on the top of a hill, a stunning location with the most amazing views, unfortunately in the heat it was too far to walk anywhere and the taxis were very few and far between. We waited approximately 30 mins each night and one night it was an hour! The hotel has a notice up explaining about the taxi delays, but also has a shuttle bus which operates till 5pm only...it would have been a help if it had operated till maybe 7 just to drop people off in Paguera where they could either stay there or get a taxi from the rank. We ate from the pool bar, where the food was lovely, and not very expensive, but the service was quite slow. Breakfast was ok, nothing very exciting, but very busy if you went after 9am. Overall we had a nice week. The staff were amazing, incredible helpful every time you asked for something, but unfortunately I don't think I would return. Despite being advertised as a 5 star, with a 5 star price tag, I didn't think that it warranted that. There are a lot better hotels in the area for the price.
