Possibly the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. One star is honestly flattering.
If you are currently looking at BLUESEA Costa Verde thinking “it can’t be that bad”, I promise you it can.
The food was absolutely freezing cold. Not slightly warm, not room temperature stone cold. Every meal felt like it had been prepared sometime during the previous geological era and then abandoned under a heat lamp that clearly wasn’t switched on. The hotel actually provides a microwave so guests can heat their own food up, which is probably the most honest thing about the entire place.
The choice was poor, the presentation was awful and eating there became something to endure rather than enjoy.
Then there’s the “all-inclusive”. Calling it all-inclusive is almost comedy. You are limited to three alcoholic drinks per meal, and the wine tasted like something that should come with a warning label rather than a glass. If this is all-inclusive, then apparently the word “all” has been redefined.
The cups were filthy. The hotel was infested with flies. You couldn’t sit down without them appearing.
The sunbeds looked like they had been purchased when Spain still used pesetas. They were so old, battered and uncomfortable that the concrete floor was genuinely more inviting. Whoever decided these were suitable for paying guests clearly has a very unusual sense of humour.
Sleep was basically impossible.
The hotel was full of people coming back from nights out at 5–6am, shouting, slamming doors and blasting music from their rooms as though they were running their own nightclub. This happened repeatedly. The staff’s response? From our experience, effectively nothing.
Apparently if other guests want to turn the hotel corridors into Ibiza at sunrise, everyone else is just expected to deal with it.
The staff themselves were another experience entirely. Rude, dismissive, unhelpful and seemingly irritated whenever you actually asked them to do anything. Customer service here seems to mean standing behind reception and hoping nobody asks a question.
And then came the grand finale.
After checkout, with an evening flight, we asked whether there was somewhere we could shower.
Their solution?
An outdoor shower. In full view of everyone. Freezing cold water. No towels. No soap. No privacy.
You could not make it up.
After spending money staying at the hotel, their suggestion was essentially: go outside, wash yourself in front of everyone and drip-dry.
Five-star hospitality.
The surrounding streets didn’t exactly improve the experience either. In my opinion they looked scruffy, run-down and unpleasant. Walking around the area made me feel uncomfortable rather than relaxed, and I constantly felt like I needed to keep an eye on my belongings. It is certainly not somewhere I would choose for a relaxing family holiday.
So what exactly are you paying for?
Freezing food.
Dirty cups.
Flies everywhere.
Ancient sunbeds.
No sleep.
Music blasting until sunrise.
Rude staff.
A laughable “all-inclusive”.
And a freezing outdoor shower in front of everyone once you check out.
This isn’t a case of expecting five-star luxury from a budget hotel. I’ve stayed in plenty of cheap hotels and had perfectly good experiences.
I expect food to be warm.
I expect cups to be clean.
I expect to be able to sleep.
I expect basic privacy when showering.
I expect staff to actually care when guests raise problems.
Apparently BLUESEA Costa Verde considers all of those things optional extras.
I genuinely cannot think of a single reason I would ever stay here again.
Save your money. Save your sanity. Book somewhere else.
I’d rather spend the night at the airport.
