Jardin De Menorca

Room smelled musty and moldy, following this we asked to change rooms. Three days later we changed rooms but the A/C was not working, even though we notified the front desk, no one came by before the end of our stay. The site is maintained but nothing more, we ate for 4 days at the same table that had a food stain on the tablecloth.. The hotel's stars are only on the sign at the entrance, once you pass that, you quickly forget them.

This hotel was a really lovely base for our first family holiday with our 1yr old, and our first time to Menorca. The hotel is generally clean and modern, and the pool area is really lovely. Two gorgeous pools for little ones plus a bigger pool for older kids and adults. Plenty of sun beds and parasols, no sunbed reserving early in the morning. The pools were open really early until really late too, which made it feel so relaxing as you didn't have to be anywhere or leave by a certain time. The whole place is super slow paced, quiet and relaxed. There's also free roaming chickens and cats and so many beautiful flowers to attract bees and birds etc, which children love. The food is good enough, tasty but small selection, with fresh grilled items each evening. We had a family suite and it was a good size and did the job, but did smell a little damp on arrival and you could see in corners and in the bathroom it probably needed a renovation. The hotel is a 20min walk to Son Bou centre, you need to walk up a small hill on the way back but as long as you are healthy and able it's literally no issue at all. Plus, the hotel has a shuttle that runs throughout the day if you don't want to walk. Son Bou itself has a few shops, restaurants and a great ice cream shop (BenGelat). The beach is the star though, especially for families. The sand is so soft and white and the water really shallow, warm and perfectly clear across a huge stretch of beach. There isn't much else going on in the town, but it's perfect for a low key family holiday - ice cream, souvenir shops and a few nice lunch and dinner spots. A couple of areas the hotel loses points: - Catering for allergies: I emailed ahead asking about catering for my daughters milk allergy. I was assured this was noted on file and the kitchen aware. Breakfast was okay, but there was VERY little on an evening she could actually eat. We ended up feeding her beforehand and she just had to eat some French fries and watermelon from the buffet. I would have expected a little more based on experienced other places - some margarine for bread, a soya yoghurt, just a few items given I had emailed ahead. - Pool bar: this is super understaffed. Only one person working between the bar and the lunch restaurant. Sometimes you'd wait 15-20 mins for someone to come. Also, very badly stocked, they ran out of radlers, of cava for spritz, of most ice creams. - Entertainment: the most low effort entertainment I've ever seen. Two girls would just mill around the pool and start a game with a ball, or start dancing at the side initiating water aerobics, without actually announcing or saying anything. The mini disco was only on twice a week and it was just those two girls standing in front of a laptop picking songs to dance to, with very little interaction or planning or actual 'entertainment'. Overall, I'd definitely recommend the hotel if you want a laid back, fuss free, family friendly holiday to a beautiful nature-surrounded spot in Menorca.

A hotel that has changed little since the 80s, the photos do not reflect the state of the hotel, it is not properly maintained and is outdated. Regarding the room, we were on the ground floor, there was a strong odor, the air conditioning was stuck at one temperature and not very effective. The fridge did not work, drops of water were falling from the ceiling in the bathroom. In short, we were happy to leave the hotel!
