Catalonia Mirador Des Port

This hotel sits in an elevated location with fab views from the head of the huge port of Mahon. Our room (premium, garden view) and the public areas are clean, light and tastefully decorated and the pool area was only busy on the Sunday of our 5-day stay there. It's worth booking a room with garden or sea view as you might want to avoid the row of ground floor rooms, seemingly with just a street view. On arrival there's a complementary bottle of water in your room but thereafter the bottled water in the mini-fridge is on the list of chargeable beverages. There is a dispenser of chilled water and fresh glasses in the reception area, though. Of the reception staff, we received especially friendly, knowledgeable and cheery help from Gemma and Sela. The breakfasts were amongst the best I've ever had in a hotel anywhere, with every offering fresh and regularly topped up from the kitchen, even towards the end of service. It was so difficult to choose between tortillas, eggs, bacon and other cooked items, fresh fruit, several yogurts, cured meats, cheeses, smoked salmon, avocado, several bread options (including gluten free), cereals, even ensaimada - I'm sure I've missed something! Plus lots of tea and coffee options. The bus station is a short walk away offering inexpensive bus travel to other parts of the island. We travelled to Fornells for €3.45 each! But you shouldn't miss strolling along the harbourside, reached from the hotel by several sets of steps. Yes, it's 'up' on the way back but it did get easier after the first climb. The only disappointment was the food in the bar. The food we ordered while waiting for our transfer back to the airport was prepared in a microwave by the barman. It was really rather poor and in stark contrast to the excellent food served in the restaurant. This hotel was recommended to us and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it for any trip to Mahon.

Lovely little hotel, in a great location. Lots of bars and restaurants a short walk away, and also plenty of shops. The room was nice, the balcony had a lovely view. I found the beds to be really comfortable and I had great nights sleep. The room was really clean which was great. The breakfast buffet was lovely, a huge variety of food, I really enjoyed the fresh fruit, especially the freshly squeezed orange juice! The pool area is lovely, it’s quite small but it didn’t get too busy in the day. The pool was a lovely temperature. I really liked the little food truck which had some great food and drink options. Great stay and lovely hotel!

I came with my mother to redeem a breakfast that was gifted to us, and the staff was 10/10 (Eva and Cristian), the food was in excellent condition, and everything was delicious, not to mention the wonderful views of the harbor. Without a doubt, we will repeat it
