LA CUMBRE

My husband had reserved this hotel as a treat for our wedding anniversary. It was a pure disaster. We ate in the pool restaurant at lunchtime ( with dirty opaque water in the pool) , had a satisfactory meal. In the evening I ordered lasagna “No tengo” (?we dont have ). Any pizza, any sandwich? no tengo. What do you have ? Spaghetti Bolognaise? Ok fine I will take that. My husband ordered fish with no garlic , my daughter also ordered plain sea bass. When our meals arrived my husband explained that his fish was swimming in garlic, my daughters was full of bones which she couldn’t eat and that mine was inedible as it was of extremely poor flavour and swimming with fat. So the self appointed “ Director “ arrived shouting to my husband, “what is wrong with your meal? Are you allergic or intolerant?” His voice was raised and the diners were all looking over. Embarrassing, that is nobody’s business. Then shouted again “are you intolerant or allergic” even louder and even more embarrassing . My turn . “What is wrong with your meal? “ I said I am used to Italian restaurants and it tastes nothing like bolognaise and swimming in grease. He said the chef said it is perfectly fine so I sent it back to the kitchen. Nothing wrong whatsoever with it he barked. His voice was raised shouting at me and I had tears running down my face which he didn’t even notice due to him barking and screaming at us. It was our wedding anniversary and I felt like running out, staff were huddled around in groups laughing at us as sergeant major had told them we were trouble makers, one rolling his eyes. When we received the bill he had added on two main courses for me including the one that I had sent back. The waitress said that he had said that I had to pay for both. This man totally ruined our wedding anniversary and treated us as if we were second class citizens. It was a very distressing upsetting experience. We are a registered psychologist, psychotherapist and teacher and have never before experienced anything like this.

We have been there for two nights in August and three days from the 17th to the 19th. The pool was dirty all three days...The service at the pool bar was awful, zero professionalism. Room cleaning, no comment.... We had four deluxe sea view rooms and they could have given us some solution.

Very good hotel to relax and rest, the only flaw is that there was no air conditioning in the hallways
