Arriving from Salamanca. What idea is to go to Garray to sleep? By chance we discovered the Inn of Numancia. I had written OPEN, but with a string above the sign... and handwritten 'call 06...'. It was closed. We called and from Madrid answered the owner, who celebrated her birthday there. What an idea, huh? There was room but I needed to come back 2 and a half hours later....
Well, we wait until 20, visiting Numancia. Back was Shirley (a very Spanish name, right?). We were not disappointed, he welcomed us with such humor and gentleness.
Let's have a good stay here. Imagine that before bed I fixed the bedside lamp that had no more contact. Shirley didn’t have a screwdriver and that’s why I used my knife (this one that I always carry with me and often serves me a lot. This repair deserved a good discount of 10% at least... ha, ha, ha). We had a great time and slept with one tug.
Nice breakfast very complete, and hugs with Shirley before departure to France. Until next time we'll go down to Madrid. And if there are lamp arrangements or other, Shirley, I'll take my toolbox.
Strong hug.

(for finding me on the net, also look for my books:
''Jean le dernier paysan face aux Pyrénées'' ,
"Au pas de Jean et de ses vaches Gasconnes des Pyrénées"
"Les Hautes-Pyrénées de mes grands-parents''
"Le Sport dans les Pyrénées demes grands-parents''
Pity these books are not translated, they are only read in French. But you can contact me at: 06 83 87 01 57 , at Campistous France.
NB: this Inn looks like, and makes us think of, the places Cervantés described in Quixote. To give it more character with the story, Shirley, in his promotion, would have to add something of a historic hero's stay in this place. El Quixote and Sancho went through these payments up to Aragon.

This inn is very well located in the village of Garray, just 5 km from Soria and next to the ruins of Numancia.
The overall experience of our stay (3 days) has been good, mainly for the price paid and the service received. The inn is nice but a little small. The rooms are large and spacious. Very good bed and a very correct toilet. There is a small living room in the lobby and dining room where breakfast is served. Ease of parking on adjacent streets.
Breakfast is very loose but again, reasonable for the price paid. Bad orange juice, very little serving of cold meat, plasticized pastries and a dreadful coffee. In conclusion, if that were all, consistent with the price paid.
But now the owner comes in. We did a quick and efficient check-in but we already noticed that it gave off a thorough rigidity in its explanations. Here are the "pearls" with which he delighted us:
-Lousy toilet paper management per room. It had to be asked constantly. It seemed like a luxury good
-He came to warn us a couple of times and with bad gesture for the apparent noise we made in the living room. And following the instructions shown in the hall, at 11 p.m., we had to go straight to the room.
We went into the kitchen to get a plate and a bowl to put the chestnuts we had brought. And his reaction was furious as if we had committed a crime when we entered his kitchen. And he also chided us for taking a chair from the dining room and bringing it into the same living room.
One of our people saw a Nespresso/Dolce Gusto coffee machine at one end of the supposed breakfast buffet. And when he made himself a coffee, he berated us for having used it, saying it wasn't for us and hid it. We never saw her again in the next few days.
And lastly, the height of the stalemate. On the day we were going down to breakfast separately and the last ones who came down met the empty sausage tray (York ham and cheese). When asked to replenish it, his reply was extraordinary: "guilt of your friends who have eaten everything. I do not replenish it because there are still 2 guests to eat for breakfast." Unsurpassed.
With all this, an experience that would have been very positive, I repeat, for the price paid, has been overshadowed by a regrettable attitude of its owner.

If you want to see real reviews of this hotel, don't pay attention to anything written before 2023. This hotel is under new management and I can assure you that it is a gem. My husband and I have been there several times and were really impressed with how clean EVERYTHING is, the lovely decor, a generous breakfast buffet, and comfortable mattresses with new bedding. Shirly is the new owner and goes out of her way to make sure we are all happy. He knows the area very well and gives good advice, whether it's where to forage for mushrooms or visiting local tourist attractions.
