Canada Palace

We stayed at Hotel Canada Palace over Easter as part of a U.S. Olympic Development Program soccer trip, so the hotel was selected for our group rather than something we chose ourselves. Calafell itself was a pleasant surprise. It’s a cute, relaxed beach town with plenty of small restaurants, cafés and convenience stores within easy walking distance. The beach is quite nice - I actually preferred it to the beach we visited in Sitges - and the long beachfront promenade is great for walking and finding somewhere to eat. Unfortunately, the hotel itself is very basic and not somewhere I would personally choose for a vacation. The rooms are small, with limited closet and bathroom space. We did have a balcony, which was nice, but during our spring stay the hotel had essentially turned off the room climate control. Temperatures could get fairly warm during the day, so the only real option was opening the balcony door. Unfortunately, our neighbor frequently smoked on their balcony, meaning fresh air also came with cigarette smoke entering our room. Bedding was extremely basic as well, essentially a single sheet, so I would recommend asking for an additional blanket. The hotel was absolutely packed over Easter with youth boys’ and girls’ soccer teams from Spain and overseas. There are only two very small elevators, which simply aren’t adequate when the hotel is full. If you’re traveling with large luggage, bring some patience. At busy times, taking the stairs can genuinely be easier. The hotel buffet does make an effort to provide a decent variety, but the quality and flavor are about what you would expect from a basic group-tour hotel. Unless eating there is included with your stay and convenience is the priority, I would skip it. There is a small bakery/coffee shop about a block away where we had much better breakfast options, and there are plenty of restaurants throughout town and along the beachfront. We particularly enjoyed Waves on the beach. There is a pool and bar area, and both are perfectly fine. But you’re in a Mediterranean beach town - go enjoy the beach rather than spending your vacation at this pool. The front desk staff seemed to be doing their best, but the desk was very easily overwhelmed whenever groups arrived or everyone needed something at once. Don’t expect much individual attention during busy periods. Overall, the hotel served its purpose for a large organized youth soccer trip: it gave everyone a place to sleep, eat and meet before heading out each day. But that’s about where I would set expectations. Calafell itself is worth visiting, and we enjoyed the town and beach. If I were independently choosing and paying for accommodations in this area, however, I would stay somewhere else - either at one of the nicer properties in the Calafell area or simply base myself in Sitges. I would happily return to this part of the coast; I just wouldn’t choose this particular hotel again.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights at the end of July 2026. We booked 2 rooms with pool views for 3 adults and 2 children on half board. Spacious and renovated rooms, comfortable beds, air conditioning very good, bathroom and shower correct, but without amenities. Good daily cleaning. Buffet for breakfast and lunch with very little variety and very average quality, extras and drinks very expensive both in the dining room and at the bar, it is not up to the standard of a 4*, I would downgrade it by 2*. Expensive outdoor parking, 20€ per night. Small pool and no control of sun loungers. Reception staff very friendly but not very helpful. Price somewhat expensive for the services offered. It needs a significant upgrade of its facilities. In short, we were fine, but we will not choose this hotel for future bookings. Antonio
