Mediterranean Suite

was awful holes in door , curtains, wardrobe door hanging off lady behind reception was rude and very unhelpful left after 2 days fridge broke air conditioning broke , hope it has got better as could not get any worse went in 2017

Stayed in mid-September for 7 nights. I had read the bad reviews before I booked but there were also some good reviews so I took a chance on it. We arrived at 12 noon and told we couldn't check in until 4 p.m. We changed in the toilets and put our cases in locker (€2 charge) and headed off to get something to eat. Returned after 4 and our apartment was ready. Very basic apartment, but that's ok with us, as we wouldn't be spending long periods of time in it. There were twin beds with locker in between. Had to move the beds as couldn't open the wardrobe. Kitchen was sufficient with kettle, toaster and 2 ring hob - plenty of cutlery. It was a surprise that there was no draining board/drainer, as when you are self-catering you will be washing plates, cups etc. We had to leave them draining on the counter itself which wasn't ideal. Lovely big balcony overlooking pool. Shower very good but no shelf in bathroom to put our toiletries on so had to put them on the floor. It wouldn't cost much to put shelf under the mirror. We ventured down to the pool around midday the following day as the sun doesn't really shine there until that time and even at that you are chasing the sun around all day. Not the fault of the owners as there are high rise buildings around, and also large trees from the adjoining apartments. 1 thing I have to complain about at the pool is the loungers - they are those old plastic ones that are not adjustable so you can only lie flat on them - like lying on rocks - if you didn't have a sore back going on holiday you would definitely have 1 going home. Surely the loungers could be adjustable as a lot of people don't like lying flat on their back (especially older visitors). Needless to say we didn't venture down to the pool again. There was 1 toilet roll in bathroom when we arrived and we ended up buying toilet roll at the end of the 2nd day. Surely not much to ask for few toilet rolls to be put in apartments every few days. Towels were changed once during our 7 days - sheets weren't changed at all. I had brought a travel iron with me and asked on reception if I could borrow an ironing board for a little while as there was nowhere suitable in the apartment to iron anything. The woman at reception kinda laughed at me and said no!! The location of these apartments is ideal as only few minutes walk from the beach and the centre of Salou. I know these are budget apartments but I won't be staying here again as I'm sure there are other apartments in Salou just as cheap but with better facilities and service.

Booked on a spur of the moment (flew out the day after booking ) shocked &Scared when i read the reviews at the airport:-) First on arriving at 2pm & Thinking we'd arrived at the bronx(Quite unpleasant area (redidential flats all around. we were told check in was 5pm unless empty earlier .the receptionist did seem a little cold but also cracked a smile. We paid €2for a large locker got changed and went for meal etc (The main strip of salou (3 mins walk) Came back at 4pm and given keys . By then the receptionist was happier than earlier she explained the t& c of apartment.(which i read about)the €100 for damages and city tax €1 pp per night . which all hotels are doing now in europe(we did this in may in mejorca ( so no surprise there.) Arriving in our room 509 corner apartment massive balcony (all along 2 sides so really good sun all day on both sides.the view was the pool area of opposite hotel which was good because you sort of looked over that from a distance which is better for me because looking straight down from floor 5 makes me feel faint. (AND the hotel pool at med suite leaves you little desire to view it all day(small and nothing going on ..so all in all we had the best side although not overlooking our pool it was the best and also listened to other hotels music and entertainment and also watched 2 rides operating from portaventura (less than 2 miles away) The tv worked but No eng .so that didnt go on all week no prob i wasnt there to watch tv just like the news once a day but just watched on phone instead ..Free wifi in room and nr the pool too. IF i wanted to picky i could be about (nothing to fancy (like crockery in a cabinet in livjng room rather than kitchen but that certainly wont put me off. 2 rings on cooker 1 toaster 1 kettle .NO microwave but that didnt bother us . A few updates needed like running paint on radiator and cabinet coming apart but really its not worth worrying about. On leaving i cleaned swept & mopped so we def got €100back it was said rooms are checked b4 they give it back but they never checked our room they just handed it back when i handed keys and tv remote in.No entertainment ..although there is a bar (very quiet sometimes only 1 or 2 people in(its easier to just walk 3 mins to shooters sports bar or 1 of the sev hundred other bars /restaraunts around the corner.Burger king less than 5 min walk and beach is lovely about 6/8 mins (with my bad leg) i Would def go back there and prob again request the same room 509 Which is also at the end of corridor(about 20ft out of the lift ... so no one walks past at night .although we never heard anyone in other rooms anyway. Its far from the ritz but ideal for what we wanted & paid .clean and well enough equipped and staff ok too 2 lifts as well, never stopped working :-) bus stops 3 mins walk away too everything is within 5 min walk perfect location coudn't ask for better .. hope the pics show the minor faults and i mean minor nothing to worry about ..oh the pool is ok not massive but thers a smaller one for kids too .and like a cafe area just normal table & chairs if you dont want to lay on sunbed in the sun (about 25 sunbeds) but always got 2 whatever time of day
