TLDR : rude waitresses, inconsiderate management, underwhelming views and hard-to-get drinking water
Detailed:
Avoid this place absolutely for multiple reasons:
1) For the kind of premium tariff they charge, the staff they employ in their restaurant don't deserve to be in hospitality business. I faced extremely rude behaviour from the two waitresses at breakfast buffet. Basic items like milk, coffee and water were missing. I had to request them multiple times. They did bring the missing things eventually but with disdain and contempt as if it was my fault that I kept requesting what was missing. When I complained at the reception, the hilarious answer I got was "may be she was having a bad day". Excuse me? I don't pay close to 200 euros a night to absorb the bad day at office of your unemployable waiters. And what makes me wonder is you have employed only two waitresses to serve almost 100 breakfast tables?
2) They don't sell 1.5L plastic water bottles. If you have set up a hotel in the middle of a national park where there is no other amenity except yours, you ought to sell big water bottles at reasonable rates. But you don't. Instead there are steeply priced 500 ml water bottles. You don't realize that guests come to your hotel so that they could go for 15-30 kms hikes and return to base in evening. Such long hikes requires 4 to 5 litres of water. With the arrangement that you have, a guest would easily end up spending 20+ euros just on water.
3) This is the most important point : THE NIGHT SKY FROM PARADOR IS NOT PITCH BLACK. On the Bortle scale (a scale to measure the 'blackness' of the night sky) it is a miserable 3 or 4 out of 9. Best skies are those where Bortle scale value is 1. You would get better dark skies in your village on a clear night and if your village is far from a major town. The stargazing thing from Parador felt like an oversold touristy trope. However, the views of the deserted volcanic landscape during the day were really worth all the pain.

I stayed in the Parador in August 2026 and had a fabulous time. The location of the hotel is unique, perched as it is within a volcanic crater. The surrounding National Park is incredibly interesting, and especially at night. The staff turned off the lights in the pool area and lying on the sun loungers watching the stars under cover of darkness was a once in a lifetime experience. A night walk around the base of the volcano is also very atmospheric. The hotel staff were invariably very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant served a mixture of local and international cuisine, which I enjoyed very much. The indoor pool and dining rooms have unrivalled views. My only criticism is that my room was a bit tired and lacked power sockets (plus one was a bit loose). The view was of other rooms in the hotel rather than outwards but I booked at the very last minute so can’t complain I suppose. Overall I had a great time and would love to stay there again.
