Altamira

Although this apartment (owned by El Beril next door) was not expensive, it was depressingly dark and very basic, with the mustard coloured walls not helping. The sofa and beds were not comfortable. The lighting was appalling. The shower room was all in working order and the shower was hot, but the noise from upstairs when they flushed the toilet (often throughout the night and day) sounded like our bathroom was flooding. What shone through from this apartment was the complex and pools (one heated) definitely 4* for that, the view from our apartment was stunning and the location is amazing. The in house beach bar and costa Caleta restaurant are also good. We had 3 meals all very good. Just make sure when booking Altamira that you look at the pictures carefully. There are lots available privately and through El Beril of differing stages of modernity. Altamira please bring these apartments out of the 90's. I did a search on AI and it stated that the decor was typical of European budget apartments in the 1990's. It wouldnt take much to paint the walls white, add some halfway decent furniture and lighting to make holidays way more comfortable.

Very disappointed. I have just come back from a weeks holidays. They are carrying out major works in the big pool and on the 5th floor. Kango hammers were going in both locations all week. We were not notified about this in advance and would definitely not have stayed if we did know this. We were after all on holidays. The apartment itself was lovely and the pool area, on the beach, it has everything for a good holiday. We book it through booking and the agent over there didn't reply to our messages. Just not good enough. We work hard to afford holidays not to go to a building site. I took video's but unable to upload them

Not what we are used to from RCI. No welcome pack-first time ever in 20 years going to Tenerife with RCI. Apartment had really shabby furniture .Really dark bedroom area. No air conditioning only a ceiling fan in lounge area which was useless as temperature was reaching 30 degrees most days. Cockroaches in bathroom and bedroom every night. Also apartment is a long long long walk from the lift so no good for any one with mobility issues. Tiny TV which had channel 5 and sometimes BBC 1. The safe cost 28 euros and didn’t work took us almost 30 minutes for reception to agree to refund us. Reception is at top of a steep hil in another resort. 1 person working and huge queue. Again we had to pay 100 euro deposit and when leaving instead of refund charged another 100 Euros deducted from Bank account spent an hour trying to sort it out with reception. No places locally if you want to eat out for breakfast. And nowhere to eat on a weekend after 8,00. Only place open was full as bookings only. On the plus side lovely balcony with great views out to sea. But no sun-beds only 4 chairs and massive plastic table. Very overlooked though by hotel next door. Bus stop at top of hill buses regular. Used them every day great value. Supermarket nearby. Won’t go back here. Will only go back to places we know are good Gold crown.
