Rural Victoria

Hotel Victoria is located in the picturesque streets of La Orotava, north of Tenerife. It is very impressive in its height, with an interior entirely covered in wood. The room that was allocated to us was huge, with magnificent high ceilings. It had a desk, many cushions, as well as a bathroom equipped with a shower, toilet and sink. The staff was very nice and friendly. They speak English too. It is also possible to enjoy deckchairs on the roof, offering views of part of La Orotava up to the sea as well as El Teide bald at this time of year. Thank you.

Indeed, we can access the rooms independently thanks to the entrance code and rooms. The reception is open for a few hours but it is enough. The team is very nice. We had the room, 206. We were quiet, the room was clean as well as the bathroom, but indeed they are carpeted floor with its pros and cons. The downside of the room would be the absence of shutters that makes the day enter the room despite a slight curtain. As for the breakfast, indeed it is very basic. We saw the food presented in the supermarket next door. We were able to park in front of the hotel. Indeed, there are a few spaces reserved the hotel for minute drop off but we were told that we could park there more permanently.

First of all, La Orotava is a charming historic town definitely worth a stay of 2 or more days and The Rural Victoria is in the center but uphill so you get views of the town and coastline below. Both town and hotel are very romantic. We were lucky to get a rooftop room and had amazing private panoramic views. The room was spacious and very clean. Breakfast was good and we had everything we needed. I would give this 5 stars but there were NO reception services! When we checked in there was a note to use the code that was emailed to us ( rooms are accessed by a keypad). We did not receive an email so we had to telephone someone to get the code. During our entire 2 night/ 3 day stay there was no one to help us with anything. We had to ask the kitchen staff for beach towels as they were the only staff we could find. I had a dental emergency and telephoned the same person who gave us the check in code, who was not helpful at all and told me to look on google for a dentist! If you want restaurant or touring suggestions or any reception services, this is not your hotel! But if you are the independent type ( and have a sense of adventure and humor) and do not need these services, this is a lovely, well located hotel. Only other complaint is that entrance to hotel and to hotel rooms is with keypads that are so old and faded, you can barely read the numbers. If they continue with the use of keypads, they need to be upgraded so they are readable.
