Parador De Benavente

In general, it meets the expectations of an inn; we liked the attention of the receptionist and his willingness to make us comfortable; he prepared the room for us before the scheduled time. We did not like that they charged us 4 euros for bread and oil that we had not ordered.

I just made a call today, Tuesday, June 1st, to the Parador de Benavente, and the phone treatment was unacceptable from the gentleman who answered my call. The prices listed on the website do not match those given to me with a gift box that I purchased myself, and at least twice he insinuated that I am foolish for not understanding what he is saying. The treatment has been completely degrading; beyond the fact that it is unacceptable that using a gift box issued by the same Paradores makes the price higher (this has already been reported to customer service).

The hotel is currently carrying out works in the outside areas but this does not impact upon the internal workings of the establishment. Unfortunately the hotel cannot decide which season it is catering for. The outside pool is not in use “as it is too early in the season” but there is no heating on in the building and the hot water/showers is just barely warm. It’s a lovely, old building in very good condition with large bedrooms overlooking the town. There is a self service buffet for breakfast and the quality of the evening meal is very good. All in all it would be a good hotel if it had some heating….
