Esplanade

This hotel was a delightful experience. It was in a great location, with a lovely ' family guest house' vibe. Breakfast was fresh and interesting, with lots to choose from. There is a guest lounge for self serve coffee and tea as well as a second lounge with views over the water on the second floor. Service is attentive. Beds were comfortable and bathrooms were clean, albeit small (there's no sharing the bathroom with your loved one!). This is a historic hotel, so guests should be aware there are stairs to navigate (although staff help with luggage) and rooms are small. Reception and Housekeeping are excellent and so is breakfast. The communal lounges are a bonus when the bedrooms feel too small and it's been carefully modernised without losing the Art Nouveau details. It's a beauty and we would definitely stay again.

We enjoyed our three nights in this hotel. When you turn off the main sidewalk to find the entrance, it’s a bit like stepping back in time as you enter this small, charming hotel. All furnishings reflect an earlier era. The pleasant front desk staff checked us in, and one lady immediately rushed our two wheeled suitcases up the stairs to our room. (There is no elevator.) I had reserved a larger twin, but we were upgraded to a jr. suite with a lovely view. The hotel location is excellent. We took Bus 69 from the train station. Tram 7 is also an option. At the 7 Eleven you can buy public transit cards. Seniors can get one card at a discounted rate and put two people on it. We got a 72 hour one and used on buses, the tram, and the public ferries. This hotel is also close enough to walk to many attractions. Our room was very spacious, with plenty of outlets, a comfortable bed, kettle, safe, robes & slippers, etc. As seniors, I worried a bit that we had a small “step up” to get in the bathroom at night, but I always carry a nightlight, so we used that. Great shower & nice bath products. Breakfast was quite good, with abundant selections. Excellent coffee machine available all day. Pleasant room. Front desk staff always very nice and helpful with all types of information! Our favorite attractions: Vasa Museum & Changing of the Guard Favorite food/drink experiences: Glashuset, Sauhall
