We traveled to the hotel as a couple in our sixties and booked through TUI, flying into Zürich and travelled by train to the hotel.
We have had much discussion regarding if we should award four or five stars, we came to the conclusion we would not want to put anyone off visiting and staying at this wonderful hotel.
We have stayed previously in Lauterbrunnen and Interlaken on Eurocamp sites, the location of this hotel is brilliant for the cable cars and trains which are on the doorstep.
Prior to our visit we had requested a room on a high floor and had paid for a room with a view of the spectacular Eiger mountain. We were delighted with our room and the view. It was brilliant to return from a day in the mountains to return to our room, open a beer and chill looking at the view. However on the third day we returned to see that the hotel facing us across the road appeared to be in the process of being demolished, a large bulldozer was in use and balconies being ripped from the hotel front directly across from us, we were surprised and devastated by the noise which we were not expecting.
When we reported this to the staff and expressed or upset, the front desk staff and management were brilliant, they detailed to us what was taking place and immediately offered us a wonderful room, which whilst at the back of the hotel facing the train station was both spacious and comfortable.
Eating at the hotel- we were half board and found the breakfast’s excellent. We struggled with a couple of the evening meals however this was not because the were poorly cooked it was only due to our tastes.
There were a number of 60+ British couples staying at the hotel whilst we were there and it was good to swop tips and experiences, it was also clear they regularly return.
I would defiantly return to the hotel in the future, it’s not cheap and we will have to save up, but the location, front desk staff and restaurant staff are brilliant. The location for travelling to the various mountain attractions cannot be beaten.
We would like to mention our TUI rep who was wonderful and so helpful throughout our stay.
One gripe would be the fridge in our first room, it struggled to cool our drinks.
Thanks for sorting out our problem and making it a wonderful holiday.
