Today I tried to book a room for this weekend in this hotel. I have exchanged a conversation por email with a men which made me few questions, at same point he asked me where I come from and I said I come from Zürich, I lived in Switzerland from many years, I work and I pay taxes here, so I think that even if I have an Italian surname and I have still all swiss right. After that he ask me if I come from Italy ( he did it, probably cause my Italian surname). I said I am Italian just in the passport and anyway nobody is allowed in this moment to go or to leave Italy ( a serious structure should know about What is happening in Europe). After all he wrote down this: “we cannot accomodate Italian citizies in this moment”. These words are really heavy... or this men has problem with language or he discriminate people for the passport they have. We are in 2020, and I hope at this time the name doesn’t determined the nationality. After all, dear travelers I wouldn’t recommend this place, Italians and others. Hotel are hospitality structures, discrimination should be banned!

Stayed here on a last minute business trip in March 2018. Rooms are a little dated but comfortable and clean and most overlook the lake. Same can be said of the bathrooms. Very friendly welcome from the owner who made an excellent restaurant recommendation for our evening meal. Breakfast was again basic but continental style and provided all you needed. Free tea and coffee available 24 hours - nice touch! Would recommend and would stay again.

We chose this hotel, based on availability and the rating on Trip Advisor. What a disappointment. The hotel (the new building) is advertised as one with a lake view. Indeed there is a view, but the lake which is less than 100 meters away from the balconies is behind the railroad and the highway. And this makes the stay just AWFUL!!! Don't even think of sleeping or even surfing the net with open door to the balcony. The noise is constant, the train traffic does not stop and won't let you relax. We had to close the door to keep the noise out, but then the air in the room is stale and we woke up with a headache, since there is neither air-conditioning nor ventilation. Swiss franc is strong so the hotel is quite pricey - 214 Swiss Francs for the room with breakfast, which was kind of poor without much variety (probably due to the fact that we were the only guests on Monday morning). The rooms are spacious, clean and well equipped - the Swiss 3-star is Swiss 3-star, but the noise makes all that fade away. On the other hand, the restaurant is great. It is a fish restaurant, serving local fish and local wine as well as a good variety of international wines. But one just have to taste the local wine, since you rarely can find Swiss wines abroad, and they are very good. Especially the local whites from grape Chasselas. The food was excellent, the soup, the fish and especially the desert. So, in short - don't come to Twann, unless you can't find any other place to sleep. Definitely not for long vacation stay.
