Hotel Regina

Hotel Regina in Wengen is an experience that will stay with me forever. I will never forget the moment I stepped onto our balcony for the first time and saw the breathtaking Swiss Alps spread out before me. I was completely overcome with emotion. Switzerland had been a lifelong dream of mine, and standing there, realizing that this was actually my view, is a moment I will carry with me forever. When I first checked in, there was an issue that could have easily put a damper on what was supposed to be a once-in-a-lifetime trip. But Meryl at the front desk was absolutely amazing. She went above and beyond to rectify the situation and was incredibly kind, compassionate, and understanding throughout the entire process. I am so grateful for the way she handled everything. I also want to sincerely thank Remmert, the General Manager, for going above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. His attention and genuine concern made such a difference and helped turn what started as a difficult moment into the trip of a lifetime. I truly appreciate everything he did for us. The hotel itself is beautiful and has such a unique, timeless charm. Its location up on the hill means the views are simply breathtaking. And that balcony… stepping out onto it for the first time was one of those unforgettable travel moments that you wish you could bottle up and keep forever. The included breakfast was delicious, and I also want to recognize the wonderful husband-and-wife team who worked at breakfast. I unfortunately didn’t get their names, but they were incredibly warm, hospitable, and welcoming every morning. Their kindness added to the feeling that we were genuinely being cared for. Hotel Regina became so much more than just a hotel to us. It became part of a lifelong dream and a memory that I will treasure forever. Wengen is magical, the hotel is beautiful, the views are unbelievable, and the people made our stay truly special. After this experience, I can honestly say that I will not stay anywhere else when I return to Wengen. Hotel Regina will always be our place in Switzerland. ❤️🇨🇭

I was in Wengen for the first time and, at a price of around CHF 350.– per night, expected to stay in a good 4-star hotel. Unfortunately, our stay at the Regina did not meet this expectation at all. The hotel makes a very worn-out impression overall, and the rooms in particular are, in my view, not at the level of a 4-star establishment. The curtains in the bathroom/toilet were torn, a minibar was no longer available, the closets could hardly be opened in some cases, and the carpet was dirty. The chairs on the small balcony were also unkempt and looked as if they had not been replaced for decades. The experience was also disappointing at breakfast. Breakfast is available from 7:30 a.m., and a line had already formed before that. Entry was only allowed one by one. Although the dining room was practically empty, we had to wait around 15 minutes until we got a seat. After no coffee had arrived even after another ten minutes, we decided to leave and check out. Unfortunately, there are a few other points to mention. Overall, we got the impression that the hotel does not have to do more than absolutely necessary due to the high demand and the many guests. That is a real shame, because Wengen is a beautiful place with enormous potential – and that is precisely why we had expected significantly more here. We will certainly come back to Wengen again. However, not to the Hotel Regina anymore.

Hotel Regina is well located, near the train station and easy walking distance to the small village. The walk from the train station is short but uphill - if that could be a challenge, arrange well in advance for the hotel to send someone to pick you up. I asked too late and didn't hear back before arriving. We were assigned room 601, on the highest story of the hotel. The weather at this time was quite warm. The lift only operates to the 5th floor, so we walked the stairs to the 6th floor. Stairs were not very safe - uneven, narrow, etc. If walking up such stairs wouldn't work for you, be sure to mention before booking. The room itself was clean but in need of some love - true for the entire hotel, in my opinion. The carpets desperately need to be replaced. Our room was 2-level, A-frame, bedroom upstairs. Sounds more charming than it is - unable to stand upright beside the bed (and I'm not tall), had to navigate stairs to go to bathroom at night, inadequate nighttime lighting on the stairs. Room was quite warm, even with small fans supplied by the hotel (one for lower level, one upstairs). At night, we put both fans upstairs. The room has large windows which allows for some airflow, which helps at night. It didn't really cool until we had rain on our 2nd night. It is charming to hear the cowbells from the cows in a nearby field. I mentioned that the hotel is in need of some love, which definitely applies to room 601. The covering on the daybed downstairs needs to be replaced, the toilet seat is chipped and needs to be replaced and the tub is treacherous - narrow, deep and with no bars, etc., to assist with getting in or out. There was some mold on the shower tiles. On the plus side, the food was excellent. Breakfasts were generous and very tasty. We also ate 1 evening meal there, which was good, altho service was a bit slow. The staff is lovely - friendly and accommodating. That's the best aspect of this property - the staff. The front desk representative, Gabriel, helped our daughter arrange a lovely surprise for my husband and I, which really made our stay in Wengen very special.
