Best Western Hotel Strasbourg

The room was spacious, clean and well maintained. Personally, I don't like carpets in hotel rooms. The bathtub in which you also shower is somehow high, probably unsuitable for older people. In the bathroom there is no ventilation, clearly a deficiency. Our room was facing the backyard. There is a public parking lot that is heavily and noisily frequented. This until the early morning hours. The reception staff was friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel near train station is ideal. The lake and the old town are easily accessible.

We booked the first two nights of our vacation at The Strasbourg Hotel in Geneva May 13/14). While the location is okay, the bed was old, mattress was hard, the box spring was exposed and looked dirty. The waste bin in the bathroom had not been emptied. Sleeping is hard to do with all the noise from the bar/restaurant across the street. The place is old and in desperate need of renovations/repairs. Now for the worst part - SAFETY - the base of the tub is over a foot above the floor and there is NO SUPPORT installed to help get out of the tub. This incident happened on the first night of our very expensive trip. My husband tried to hold onto the towel rod to exit the tub as that was the only thing available, the rod came undone, he slipped and fell. The front desk said they were sorry and would see if we could get a better room but nothing happened. The next day, there were large bruises and my husband could not move his arm and he was in a great deal of pain. Fortunately it was not the arm he had just had surgery on just a month ago. He was in a lot of pain, could not move his arm, and so just after midnight we went to the Emergency Room. Spent the rest of the night there. We paid almost CAD 500 for the hospital bill not including cab fares. The rest of our vacation was RUINED. I had to carry all the bags, and had to rely on the goodness of strangers to help me with our luggage. We had to cancel doing so much of what was planned and came back feeling this carefully planned vacation went all wrong simply because of no support bar installed. This was a terrible experience, my husband has trouble breathing because of the chest injury and had to check into the Emergency Room again yesterday as he was struggling to breathe. My husband is still in a lot of pain. We have not received any formal apology to date nor offered a refund or compensation for this terrible mishap. So in summary, penny wise pound foolish, we should have paid for a better hotel and enjoyed our hard earned vacation. Terrible experience, so if I were you, please stay away from this place, pay a little more and stay safe.

Great location. It’s near train station if you get that to and from the airport. Few minute walk to the lake, and close to bus station if you do a trip. Comfortable room and nice basic breakfast. Lovely friendly staff, I would recommend hotel and going to Geneva, beautiful place
