Hotel Beau-Rivage

The hotel is showing its age - you notice this everywhere. The rooms are old-fashioned, whereas the bathrooms are new. The cleanliness leaves something to be desired. The separation of hotel and restaurant makes billing more complicated. The outdoor grounds are in a great location and worth seeing.

Very disappointing – especially the way the manager deals with guests What bothered us the most was the way our complaints were handled. We nicely indicated this morning what was wrong with the room, the bed, and the restaurant. The manager was in a meeting, but could speak with us by phone. When I started my story, I was immediately interrupted. He said he didn't have time to listen to our complaints and then started threatening us with the police if we didn't pay. He also said that we shouldn't stay here if we didn't have the money for it. We found that utterly indecent. We didn't care about the money at all. We can pay fine, but for €220 per night without breakfast, we expect service and quality. The room was boiling hot and the mobile air conditioner barely worked. The air conditioner was also full of dust, see photo, and the hose kept falling out of the hole. The beds were bad and the steel was palpable through the mattress. The screens were broken and looked like they were about to fall down. The pool was dirty and poorly maintained. Between 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM you couldn't get anything to drink, and after 6:00 PM we got a dirty glass. The cots were simply two separate beds pushed against each other. According to the manager, this room normally costs €400 per night. That only makes it worse, to be honest. For that price, we really expect something completely different. Poor value for money and especially a very bad way of dealing with guests. Absolutely not recommended for us and we will never come back here.

We booked the Hotel Beau-Rivage in Weggis and were shocked by the condition of the facility as well as the treatment of guests. Only the view of the lake is breathtaking – everything else in no way corresponds to an acceptable hotel standard. The first impression & the rooms: Already upon entering the entrance area toward the reception, the hotel seems dark, cluttered, and uncomfortable. The hallway to the rooms is covered with a dark carpet that was full of loose stains and dirt. The room itself did not match the pictures on the internet at all. It was extremely small, and the furniture was worn and unkempt. The refrigerator was completely missing (only the cord was still hanging out of the wall) and the telephone was not connected. Deficient hygiene & bed condition: The bed was an absolute imposition: No mattress protector; the sheet was lying directly on an unclean mattress. The bed linen was in poor condition and the pillow does not deserve the name – it was more like a sack with uneven filling. Balcony & garden area: The view of the lake is beautiful, however, the sun umbrella on the balcony was broken. The garden area and the outdoor furniture also look completely neglected. Especially blatant: There was dog feces on the gravel area. Despite our complaint at the front desk, it was not removed during our entire stay. Bathroom & Breakfast: The bathroom may look renovated at first glance, but it already shows significant defects (missing screw on the toilet seat, grout falling out of the tiles). The breakfast buffet was arranged very carelessly. For example, there was only a single type of jam (at least the bread was good). Staff & Unbelievable Customer Service: The male employee upon arrival was indeed eager and helpful, but the receptionist's behavior after our objective complaint takes the cake. Her reaction to our criticism was verbatim: "You have seen it now, and if it didn't suit you, you don't have to come back." This was the exact same lady who had already failed to take care of the removal of the dog feces. Conclusion: As Swiss guests, it hurts to see how a hotel in an absolutely dream location is being run down due to a lack of hygiene, missing maintenance, and an insolent attitude toward the guest. Under this management, we will definitely never set foot in this establishment again.
