Hotel Thorenberg

Economic structure compared to the area average. The room had an en suite bathroom, which is not obvious in Switzerland. The room was spacious and clean. Very friendly and helpful staff. We had dinner at their restaurant, n stop that the price was more than fair always considering the very high prices of Switzerland. Thanks to Marta who pampered us at dinner

The hotel is one of the cheapest 3-star hotels in the Lucerne area. It has a large free parking lot in front of the building. The rooms in the front area were modernized at some point, the rooms in the back are even older. The problem in the front area is that you are very close to the road. About 100 meters from the hotel, the 80 km/h zone of a bypass road begins. In a room without air conditioning, you might want to leave the window open on a warm summer night, but you have to be very resistant to noise. Roaring motorcycles, trucks and masses of cars that start to step on the gas or, conversely, come along at high speeds and only slow down near the hotel. Since there is an open field after that, you can hear the noise long before or long after, and that goes on until late at night and again in the early morning. I also found the rooms to be dirty, giving the impression of a superficial, quick cleaning. In the pictures you can see thick layers of dust, the last major cleaning was more than a year ago and it's not like this is at a height of 2.2 m where no one is looking. No, it starts at 1.6 m. The beds are also too hard. The breakfast is not particularly extensive, but the essentials can be found.

Very clean and functional hotel. Excellent welcome and helpfulness of the staff. Convenient parking, close to the center of Lucerne. It has an excellent restaurant with excellent service. The price is also good, compared to the very high average in the area
