HOTEL ASCONA

This was billed as a very good Hotel but I felt very let down. It was expensive but the amenities and service levels were lacking. The aircon didn’t work properly and only after repeated complaints did I get a lifesaving fan in the intense heat. The WiFi was also poor, I had to keep going outside into the corridor to get to back. No coffee machine or kettle, no list of prices for minibar or room service. The pool was lovely with a wonderful view but the promised jacuzzi was empty. The staff were not too friendly either. There is a shuttle but you have to ask and it stops at 4. Why? It’s a long way up the hill. If you don’t have a car, not a good idea. Just not a place where the customer was front and centre..

Absolutely great location: wonderful view of Locarno and Ascona, fresh air, beautiful park, plenty of free loungers, and a rich breakfast. Perfect: Shuttle bus in the evening for the Jazz Festival. Friendly staff. Beautiful, renovated rooms with air conditioning, good beds.

At the reception we offer a glass of water or orange juice. Everything is tastefully decorated. The Jacuzzi area is only 2 bubble bathtubs to fill yourself so big disappointment on my side. In the room there are not even bottles of water. Considering the rates charged I expected something else. Free parking available is a plus
