Romantik Hotel Castello Seeschloss

The hotel is deceptive from the outside. You can see that this is a somewhat older building that looks like a castle (as the name actually suggests), and when you go up the stairs, you encounter a really great lounge that invites you to linger. If you go into the building, you are welcomed by a very friendly lady at the reception, and this can be done in German, French, or, as is obvious, in Italian. But what is offered afterwards cannot be guessed from the front at all. A beautiful pool, a large and clean garden area with many lounge chairs that may be used freely. The pleasant quiet really lets you relax. The rooms are functionally furnished, clean, and offer plenty of storage space with the closets. The beds are large and comfortable, and the bathroom is also very spacious and, from the looks of it, has also been renovated. The breakfast buffet lacks nothing, and should something be missing, the service staff will ensure that it is brought to the table. Great service and very friendly and helpful staff. If you visit the "Restaurant zum Lago" across the street for dinner, the garden is a highlight in addition to the good food. Great dishes are offered on the menu there. The service staff is very attentive and helpful when it comes to choosing something that you might not be familiar with by name. I, or rather we, can recommend this hotel with a clear conscience and will certainly not have been there for the last time.

The main reason for choosing this hotel in the southern Swiss town of Ascona is its location. Right by the shore of the Lago Maggiore and in short walking distance of Ascona's picturesque old town. The hotel itself looks like an old castle, but the rooms are reasonably modern, with modernised bathrooms including walk-in showers. The noisy air conditioning is about to be replaced with more up to date machinery. Our spacious and comfortable room had a very pleasant lake view. At least for the first day. We were then asked to move rooms due to some plumbing issue. The second room was of similar quality... minus the lake view. We expected this to be reflected in the bill, but this was not the case. A bottle of wine was our recompense. The breakfast room is quite airy and light-filled. Breakfast itself is standard. There is a very practical underground garage for those travelling by car, as we did. The reception and service throughout our stay was most pleasant and helpful. -- We also had dinner at the lakeside restaurant belonging to the hotel. Elegant, with very good service and an attractive menu.

The location is unmatched at the quiet edge of Ascona's lively and beautiful pedestrian zone. The building is impressive with its tower, which dates back to the 13th century. We spent delightful afternoons by the pool when we were not strolling in the city or swimming in the lake. The room was small and charming, the breakfast was wonderful, everything was spotless, and all the staff were exceptionally friendly. Thank you very much for the lovely stay! Top family hotel
