Hotel&Hostel Montarina

Great location if travelling by train and you don't mind the steep walks down the stairs to town and back (without your luggage) There is always the funicular option if the stairs get tiring when returning home. Assume its included in the Swisspass but no one ever seemed to pay when we used it.

A truly terrible experience. We paid €66 per person, which is completely unreasonable for what we received. The rooms were unbearably hot (well over 30°C) and there was no air conditioning. The only option was to open the balcony door, but that immediately filled the room with mosquitoes and even a cricket. Our room was located next to the check-in area, so there was constant noise throughout the evening and night. Even worse, strangers tried to enter our room three separate times during the night. I was sleeping with a seven-year-old girl, who became very frightened. The beds were also in very poor condition. One bed was missing part of its slatted base, causing the person sleeping there to sink through the mattress. Before leaving, I calmly explained all of this to the receptionist. I wasn't necessarily expecting a refund, but I did expect at least an apology or some understanding. Instead, I was simply told that we had booked it ourselves, so we should have known what to expect. That response was incredibly dismissive and unprofessional. The lack of customer service was just as disappointing as the accommodation itself. I would definitely not recommend staying here.

The atmosphere was amazing, the room was adequate, definitely kept clean, no noise except for the trains, the staff are kind and everything is nice and lots of nice guys that come there
