Hotel Victoria Au Lac

Cons: Sadly the pictures are not a true reflection of this hotel nor are the listed amenities. Walking into the foyer which smelt of smoke should have been my first clue. I was expecting old world charm but just got the neglected, old carpet, creaky floors (like everywhere in the bedroom), walls scuffed and need of paint )at the minimum). Honestly, it needs a complete overhaul. I bought a queen room but got a double. Mini fridge which was listed on the website but wasn’t in the room - not generally a big deal but when in Switzerland these things matter (ifnyou know you know). Doesn’t take long to update a website or a third party site. I had moderate expectations and am not high maintenance but this place could do soooo much better. Asked to see another room and was told all full, asked for a queen and they said there wasn’t any. Fridge…old information… a reason for any comment. The girls were nice but that doesn’t help when you are completely sideswiped. We took a look at the other floors and the top floor had stuff in the middle of the hallway like It wasn’t even used. Maybe some of the positive views are from a particular room type. My mini shampoo was half used . My two extra pillows were stained and had no covers. It’s not pretty, nor romantic. Noise… not sure but will report tomorrow. Pros: across the street from the lake. Bed ok and airconditioning works.

We booked this hotel through Booking, for price and location. We had to arrive very late, after 3am, confirmed in writing by a collaborator. Upon arrival: no room available. Of course not refundable. But above all: NO politeness. NO words of apology, no compassion. Not even a simple “good-bye”. The man at the reception had absolutely no interest, bordering on condescension. Never seen before. In a way, it was a bad thing for a good because the hotel seems really pitiful: The lobby didn't look like the pictures. There was an evening in progress, loud music and the smell of cigarettes.Big up pictures of children cut out on the walls of the reception. I think our car we ended up sleeping in was better.

Nice building, very well located but cleaning and keeping the facility cleaner would be better. Curtain in the room full of tearing holes, chair that miraculously stands. Non-smoking room but as soon as you entered there was a cigarette smell in fact on the small balcony there were 6 cigarette butts. At 6am a terrible alarm sounded and none of the hotel staff clarified what happened or apologised. Hotel border with a Night club communicating with a door and the ladies who work in this Night club use hotels for their business, discovered pultamente the day of my arrival. Known throughout Lugano for this activity. How I had experiences of being imported by a Night Club lady in the elevator. Hotels to avoid. are open-minded but there must be respect for people and other guests. and other guests. @ Must be closed for Booking activity and carry on secondary assets and keep much much cleaner
