Best Western Butterfly

This hotel is simply amazing. The first impression: the most beautiful flowers on the balconies of all the hotels we saw. Very friendly welcome at the reception. The room and the bathroom were mega beautiful. And very spacious. The closet was almost as big as the one in our own home. The dining room was very cozy and so fitting for a hotel in the "mountains." The breakfast left nothing to be desired for us. The dinner was more than excellent. We can really only recommend this hotel.

A great *** hotel with nice rooms and an appealing dining hall. Close to the train station and centrally located; quiet, as it is not on the main street and thus not exposed to the flow of pedestrians. The breakfast buffet is great and the staff is very friendly.

I’ve left this review a while to write, in order to try to move on from the events at the Butterfly which ruined our Christmas and proceeding 3 months. On our third stay at the butterfly, we arrived to our same room, to find the safe locked but open. On asking the hotel to fix this, we returned to our room to find a code left out for us to open the safe with and re set to our new code. 3 days later, on Christmas Eve, we returned from skiing to find our safe had been accessed using the master code to all safes in the hotel, which turns out to be the code left out for us by staff. All our belongings, watch, family heirlooms, whole jewellery box, cash were all stolen. An eye watering total loss. Police confirmed no forced entry, and the door was only accessed by two members of butterfly staff that day. The hotel has the next to no security measures, with no CCTV. Following Christmas Day at the police station, and multiple meetings with management over days, where we were assured it would be fixed and reimbursed - we left the hotel, to the delight of the front of house staff who treated us like the problem not the victim. That’s when it went further downhill, after months of back and forward with the hotel, insurance companies etc. the hotel insurance policy only covered £900 per guest for losses, safe to say this wasn’t a dent in our loss. A final kick in the teeth was a ‘gesture of goodwill’ from the manager which again didn’t make up a fraction of the loss. On realisation that insurance wasn’t going to cover the loss due to negligence - the hotel manager turned nasty, suggesting it was suspicious that we didn’t declare such valuable items on arrival and odd how the their didn’t take our credit cards, passports or car keys (not odd, as these are all traceable things…!). He also went so far to suggest we were at fault for travelling with any personal belongings of value. The whole experience was not only traumatic over Christmas, but has left us financially and emotionally distraught. The lack of empathy and response from the hotel was appalling.
