Hotel D

We chose this hotel for its proximity to the river cruise dock and the old town. As it happened, our river cruise ship had to dock further away because of the low water levels. Still, the hotel was conveniently located, quiet, clean and comfortable. It also has air conditioning which was a blessing in the currently hot weather. There is a pleasant lounge area in the lobby which we used before check-in and after check-out. It’s one street back from the river where there are numerous restaurants and across the bridge there are supermarkets and other stores. It was about 10 mins by taxi to the train station. Guests get a free transport card but we only had a one night stay so we didn’t use it. The staff were friendly and helpful.

While the location was good and the front desk staff were helpful and friendly, there were a few things that were not so good. The air conditioning units did not cool as they should. We had a lot of trouble sleeping due to this. We understood that the summer had been extremely hot, so we had packed handheld fans for excursions. They were helpful that night as we propped them up by the desk lamp and had them blowing on us as we tried to sleep. (Granted, the front desk did tell us that the rooms have been warm this summer, but I didn't expect not being able to sleep). The breakfast buffet was just okay, but again the staff were great. The bathroom was nice.
