I have never given one-star on any reviews since generally if it is too negative I rather not review it due to possibly the property/establishment could have an off day and I am not seeing the whole picture. However, this property review is an exception. I feel compelled to warn other travelers. Other than the front office staff who are courteous (Taiwanese in general I found very courteous) the property itself is quite appalling by western standard. Stayed here for few nights from a package air/hotel deal. It is about 20-25 minutes taxi ride from airport (taxi rate quite inexpensive in Kaohshiung). It is located close to the western side of the Love River in the Yancheng district. The neighborhood is old, with some dilapidated buildings right across. It is about 15-20 minutes leisure walk to either subway stations (Yanchengpu and City Council stops), so not too convenient but I can deal with, give me a chance to browse around the old neighborhood. Actually on the east side of Love River it is much newer and along Love River it is charming to walk along. The problem I found with this hotel is: Infestation of mosquitoes. Use of mosquitoes repellent (incense) and cranking down air conditioner helped a little but still bitten a few times. Shower area-- poor design, no plastic curtains or doors to prevent water from over spraying into rest of bathroom. There are fabric curtains right in shower windows area, which is a negative and mosquitoes congregate there because curtains are always wet. Bed-- rock hard. No clothes hanging closet, no in-room safe. This is an ultra budget hotel and substandard in my opinion.
