Sparrow Hotel

Hotel is nice. Buffet Breakfast is so so with a little bit foods. Room is small but clean. Hotel near mini mart. Walking about 15 minutes to night market. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Should take a taxi when you want to go around city.

Though it was a straight forward 15mins' walk from Taichung railway station, we had to cross about 7 streets and there was nothing interesting along the way except 宫原眼科 which was only interesting enough for a single visit. By 8pm, we felt unsafe walking back to the hotel as most shops were closed except for a few sleazy ones. The hotel gave discounts for long stay and customers who turn up using public transport. Produce train or bus ticket stubs to enjoy the discounts. The room we had on the 8th level was quiet and on the same floor as the laundry room which had one washing machine and soap powder but no dryer. It was however very convenient to bring the washed clothes two doors away from the hotel entrance to a laundromat. This little DIY laundromat charged NTD40 for drying clothes which took 40mins. Note that half the machines there were out of order during our one week stay. Hotel was generally clean but we were disturbed by insects on the 4th night. The hotel staff delivered insect repellant to our room as soon as we had hung up the phone after complaining in the middle of the night. The plug-in repellant was thereafter left in our room till we checked out. Other than that, we did not observe any exceptional service from the staff. The service of both staff at the reception and restaurant was just basic and quite average. Breakfast varied very little from day to day and the variety was quite limited but was good enough for a fulfilling meal to start the day. There was a local market 5mins walk from the hotel where one could have local food and snacks quite cheaply. For those planning to take the Nantou bus to Sum Moon Lake and Cingjing, the bus station is 30mins walk from the hotel. Personally I would not stay there again and wouldn't recommend anyone either.

位置在台中市區離火車站步行約10分鐘的距離 周圍不算鬧區，所以感到安靜休閒 櫃檯人員親切有禮 感覺很願意為旅客解決問題 房間乾淨整潔 空調舒適 隔日早餐樣式雖不多，但品質還不錯 扣除交通稍微不方便(大眾運輸) 是個值得推薦的住宿地點 about 10 minutes walking distance from the train station Not around the downtown, so the environment is quiet & leisure Counter staff were kind and polite,willing to help The room is clean and comfortable room. Air conditioning is good Though the breakfast is not much item to choose, but the quality is good enough Excluding transportation environment ,it is a highly recommended place to stay
