Les Suites Grandee Hotel

I have been staying with Grandee in 2012, 2013, 2017 and 2020. It is a simple boutique hotel located right next to Shilin Night Market and 5 mins away from TRA (Jiantan train station). Staff are friendly and will help to book taxi for you. The breakfast buffet spread is not much but decent, the basic bakery, porridge, scramble eggs and cereal are there. One of the downsides is no driveway for vehicles. You will have to handle your luggage along a walking pathway from the main road to the hotel entrance. The pathway entrance is easily missed by drivers as well. Another downside is no shelter along the pathway. Overall if you are a night-person, this is the place for you.

We travelled with another family and booked two triple rooms, each for a family of 4: 2 adults sharing a very comfortable king bed and a preschooler having a single bed and an infant having a cot. We changed in late around 5.30pm with a huge load of luggages. Check-in was relatively smooth and although there was no bellboy for luggages, the receptionist was helpful. We were grateful to be arranged the two rooms side by side on Level 5 overseeing the Shilin night market. Both rooms had exactly the same configuration and was well-appointed, well-maintained and quiet. Bathtub was very comfortable and clean. There were three bottles of water, a fridge and a well-appointed desk with another two coffee tables. Beds were very comfortable. We had breakfast which was served between 7 and 10am and the dinning area was cozy. Location was convenient for access to MRT station and the fabulous night market and surrounding shopping district. We took the bus to Taipei Children’s Amusement Park. You will need to be mindful of the very limited space for pick-up/drop-off. The garage is small for potential access to the hotel but otherwise the entrance is through a small alley. Being so close to the night market, parking, even temporary, is extremely difficult. This is the hotel we will return to in Shilin by default and we would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone travelling to this part of Taipei!

Chose this due to the location. We had hard time finding the hotel entrance. The room we chose is good for a family of 4. There is only one lift and the café is very small. May have a problem if the hotel runs full. BF spread - simple with very limited choice. If you are not particular about the choice and spread, then this is for you.
