City Suites Taipei Nandong

Near to the metro station and 5min walk to Raohe night market. Room and toilet are clean. Laundry service is available too.

I chose this hotel based on proximity to famous night market, size of room , bathtub and price. All those elements held. I found the room gloomy in colour, decor and view mere metres from a highway ramp. We might as well have stayed in the windowless basement. The room was always too cold and the thermostat does not allow for programming. I used the space heater they gave me which helped but was not as effective as a customary thermostat. Cleanliness left much to be desired. Daily room cleanup seemed to be restricted to straightening the sheets and replacing the towels. As well, the public toilet, which was for use if you were in the reception area or dining room was actually disgusting despite my pointing this out a few days in a row. The garbage was overflowing. I’ve met friendlier reception staff.

I stayed at the City Suites Nandong for 4 nights from March 19 to 23 & I was absolutely satisfied with my stay here in Songshan. First of all a cab ride from TPE airport cost about 1450 TWD ($62 CDN). Next time I would definitely take the train. I originally booked a no window basement double room & my girlfriend told me she felt claustrophobic down there so I asked the front desk if we could be moved to a larger room which they were able to put me in their Supreme Deluxe room #807. I paid for what translates to an extra $240 CDN for the stay but the extra cost was so much worth it. The room was spacious with high ceilings, lots of drawer space, a big bathroom with separate tub & stand up shower & the highlight of the entire room was the Japanese toilet. Absolute game changer. The hotel itself was close to everything, the Raohe night market was a 5 minute walk, the Songshan train station was an 8 minute walk away. I was even able to access a laundry mat which was a 5 minute walk from the hotel. I loved every part of my stay, the daily breakfast was good with some Western & Chinese cuisine offerings & I also wanted to give a heartfelt thank you to "Judy" of the housekeeping staff. She was so nice & friendly & even though her English was limited, she made up our room every day with a smile & you can tell she was a kind lady & a hard worker. Actually the whole staff I encountered were professional & friendly & happy to help. The City Suites Nandong absolutely is a must stay in Taipei & would definitely stay there again.
